Woah, woah, wo - ease up on the superlatives!

Van Hunt is doper. D'Angelo is making a comeback. Raphael Saadiq,

and Bilal are still relevant. And Prince's heart is still beating. And

J*Davey is making some really interesting music as well. Hell, even

Sa-Ra is kinda relevant(?). I mean Raphael Saadiq co-wrote and co-

produced "Soul Sista" and "Untitled (How Does It Feel?)." Y'all need

to reel it in! Van Hunt's Popular is the natural successor of Prince's

Parade.

Miguel may be one the more talented young R&B artist out

there now. Let's see what happens after two or more albums.

Can he write music, play an instrument well? Can he produce

his own stuff? Let's see how he pans out....but there is definitely

a reason to get excited about a pretty cool kid doing some

awesome stuff right now!

This guy is really talented! Creates a very unique sonic atmosphere, I'll give him that!

But...it sounds like something is 'missing'....I can't call it, but he seems 1 keystroke away from greatness. Maybe it's just me.

Anyway, this kid is top flight and I think he can have a great career...he's got potentially tremendous crossover appeal as well!

The boy does have pipes. And I agree about the material: it's hit or miss. If he

can get with the right writers, he could do something. But you're right...his tunes

ain't hittin' yet. He channeled Marvin Gaye well in "Adorn" and fucken murdered that

track vocally; that's why I'm so hype (kinda) about him!

And I forgot all about Maxwell....so no, Migs ain't the most but the boy's got talent,

and he sold it well in the "Adorn" music video. But I saw a clip of him live and he's a

corn ball. You gotta hit 'em live...that's what separates the boys (Miggsy, Frank Body-

Lotion, The Cream, Ne-Ho) from the men (Maxwell, D'Angelo, PRINCE).

spit I do like Miguel but I do agree, live he doesn't do too good and needs some major work on that.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Okay. lol

I've been giving this guy a listen. Adorn absolutely blows. I like

nothing about it. Kaleidoscope Dream is okay but he sings over

a familiar sample. The song up under i'm still trying to like it

since it has a slight early Prince feel but i wouldn't dare call this

guy the new r&b savior.

MOST TALENTED???

This is some funny shit.

Miguel is hot. He's definitely talented, but not more than my boy:

Miguel can sing better and smoother yes -- and he's a good writer... but Frank Ocean is eccentric and more of a one-of-kind artist/thinker. Ehh, MIguels, Eldras, Weeknds come and go and are somewhat interchangeable.

Hmm...

He sounds okay. I'm not doubting that he's talented... but when Slant Magazine critic Matthew Cole compared him to my gurl Kelis, saying his "work has an undeniably commercial cunning to it, but who never fails to imbue her pop confections with real personality", I was like "Whaaaa?". I like Miguel and all but to me, he does not COMPARE to Kelis. biggrin
