Emeli Sandé - Heaven
Nice voice and a decent Pop songwriter.

Nice track. Shades of Massive Attack's Unfinished Sympathy about it - perhaps even openly giving that track a nod.
She seems to have a knack for writing a decent pop song. I liked Next To Me, with its lyric that started off like a by-numbers My Guy-type affair, but developed into something more curious and transcendental, even as it left unanswered the question of who (or what) this mysterious, steadfast 'he' that she was singing about was (a lover? God? music?). It also had great Princely 'ooh-hoo's that drew me in. I've always been a sucker for nice 'ooh-hoo's. The number of "mixes" on that song drove me nuts...

Nice version - but it needs more 'ooh-hoo'. "Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced." - James Baldwin

I was given the album, and this song and Next to Me are the only ones that really appealed to me. I liked her style and wanted to like her music, but it was just a bit generic sounding to me. Sort of Leona Lewis
Wish there had been more songs with this kind of sound. If you will, so will I

Her music's so bland. A good insomnia cure.

I was checking her sound out about 3 weeks ago, because I saw her name come up during a commercial on VH1, when I watching a reality show. I went to youtube to check it out. I think she's ok, but her sound hasn't grown on me yet. I'll give it some time though.

i thought this was the best song on the album:
beyond this song i pretty much like the rest of the album too. so what if her songs sound a little bit generic. they're solid and she's got a great voice. simply a good album, no more no less.

She already has, but maybe in the long run she'll make her money writing for others. "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

I liked "My Kinda Love", and the video as well.
