As ever, with multiple choice questions, one answer is obviously wrong.

Holy fucking crap! eek I read once that Hot Chocolate frontman Erroll Brown gave a stirring performance of this song to Mrs Thatcher and the rest of the undead hordes assembled at the Conservative Party conference in the 80s, but this may top even that in the 'most incongrous version' stakes.

Well hey... I know I'm in the minority... but, when my wife and I were dating about 11 years ago and taking frequent road trips, the Huey Lewis/Gwyneth Paltrow version was in steady rotation on the radio... so, I have have a bit of a bond with that version.

lol William Shatner fans trying to mix it up a bit, perhaps.

Although I love all three versions, I have to admit that I probably lean a bit more towards Huey's and Gwyneth's version.

I prefer Smokey. I don't like D'Angelo's cover, the harmonies are awful on that. Gwyneth and Huey try, but can't do it.

Absolutely no doubt about it....Smokey Robinson. D'Angelo did a decent job, but can't bring it like Smokey did. I won't even comment on Gwyneht and Huey...sorry but Smokey takes the prize 100%.

Smokey easily. The chorus with those strings is heavenly.

I never liked D'Angelo's version. All the charm of the original was removed.

Huey Lewis and Gwyneth Paltrow at least keep their cover faithful. It's nice hearing it as duet, the vocals just need to be better.
