Love them back in the day with N'Dea. I read there is a CD on the way with her. I've always wanted to see them live. I hope they make a live DVD. Which CD's feature her besides the debut? and are they good? Just Music-No Categories-Enjoy It!

I'm not sure about that. N'Dea was touring with the group from around 2005 until mid-summer 2011, and they had been recording new songs. The next thing I heard, they were recording with another singer named Honey something. There's a thread about it somewhere here. So I don't know what happened there. There's 3 albums with N'Dea, 4 if you count Heavy Rhyme Experience, but she was just singing hooks on it. That's her saying "Brand New Heavies & Main Source" in Bonafied Funk. There's 2 or 3 remix albums with her, but I don't know if you'd count those. There's also some non album B-sides. She sang on one tune from the album We Won't Stop which was only released in Japan in 2003. N'Dea has a solo album that was released around 1998 too. I don't know if the songs that BNH was working on with N'Dea are going to be released. Here is a recently released song she's singing on with another performer named Dilouya. Here's a couple of videos from last year when N'Dea was still in the group. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. Thanks. I found Brothers and Sisters CD, Her first Solo album on CD and a Remix of Dream Come True 92 on CD. Can't find the 1st. CD. Might have to rebuy it.
From Wikipedia: The Heavies released a free download album called "Dunk Your Trunk" in November 2011, available through blog.pedigreecuts.com and Soundcloud. The album, recorded in only four days and described as 'funky library music' is directed at 'TV and Movie people to add to their programmes and films'. The band is planning to release a new studio album in fall 2012 with N'Dea Davenport on vocals and announced recently on their Facebook page that they will be releasing Heavy Rhyme Experience, Vol. 2 in 2013.

BNH has some material pre N'Dea, with the singers Linda Muriel and Jay Ella Ruth. Some of those songs were re-recorded with N'Dea on the 1st album with her. There's two versions of that album, the first one is the US version (1991), and the second is the European one (1992). The difference is that some of the songs on the European version are different mixes, and it doesn't have the song Shakedown on it, which is on the US album.
Here's the other two: Brother Sister (1994) and Get Used To It (2006) [Edited 8/29/12 20:27pm] You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. There's also a 1988 album with Linda Muriel, which has been re-released under different titles after the group had success with N'Dea, one with Siedah Garrett (Shelter) and another with Nicole Russo (All About the Funk). The Japan only album has various singers. Jan Kinkaid, the drummer sings occasional leads on all of the albums. The rap album came out in 1992. Did you know Jay Kay auditioned for BNH before N'Dea got the gig but was turned down? If you watch the Jamiroquai music video for Blow Your Mind, you can see Simon from the Heavies in it. Seeing them live next week for the first time. N'Dea is with them for the Australian dates and as far as I know the forthcoming album. They've posted pics of them recording on Twitter.

I hope they come to the US. Have a great time! I had to re-buy the 1st CD, ah only 3 bucks on amazon used. I had that hip hop one too and I didn't like it that much. That one is missing too. Just Music-No Categories-Enjoy It!

So I wonder if Honey is a placekeeper singer like Rhona Bennett is with En Vogue. There are videos of Honey singing with them. Here's the other thread: You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You will fall in love with N'dea! I saw them in NYC a few years ago touring behind "Get Used To It" and she was great, high energy and singing well, and super beautiful. The band themsleves kick ass, no surprise there, and they had a few horn players with them. It was a GREAT show. Have a great time!

Here we go - a local interview from last week in which they talk about how N'Dea doesn't do all the live shows with the band and that she's back for the new album (which on Facebook today they've said album details will be announced next week).

They've also recently announced on Facebook that Heavy Rhyme Experience Vol 2 will be released. Presumably this will be a different project to the album they're working on with N'Dea as they've only just started recording that and Heavy Rhyme 2 has been talked about for years now.
