"Mary's Prayer" - A Danny Wilson Appreciation/Set ...
Always loved this group! Any other fans around?
Taken from the name of a Frank Sinatra film, the Scottish Pop band Danny Wilson was formed by brothers Gary and Kit Clark, along with their friend Ged Grimes. Although they never had a great deal of chart success, they had a devoted following. Their biggest hit "Mary's Prayer" reached the Top 30 in the US in1987, and evetually reached #3 in the UK the following year. The song was later featured in the movie, "Something About Mary"... The group disbanded in 1991, although Gary Clark continued to write for other artists. Gary later released a solo album, "Ten Short Songs About Love" (which also featured input from Kit Clark and G.Grimes)

That 1st album is an unheralded classic. I have 'bebop moptop' on cassette, and havent listened to it in years. I recall thinking it was ok, but nowhere near the brilliance of 'Meet DW'

Believe it or not, it was actually their second album that made me go back and listen again to "MDW" -don't know why , but it didn't hit me the first time around -but after "Moptop", I went back to the first album, and I was like "Goddamn!", how did I sleep on this?",
