she's the first person that I thought of,when I clicked on this thread lol She's already planning to remake A Star Is Born but I bet she'd be interested in this film,to

I also thought that this would be the type of movie Beyonce would be a part of. She would bring alot of press to the movie, but that wouldn't necessarily translate into asses in the seats.

With Nicki Minaj as Apollonia.

Somehow I see Rihanna as a better fit, she's alot more demure than Nicki Minaj.

I actually wouldn't mind a remake of Lady Sings The Blues using an unknown actress.

People either REALLY hate that movie or really like it lol.

Actually, there was one announced years ago, but it didn't get off the ground. A Gilligan's Island movie was announced too. Anyway The Wiz is not original. It came from a stage play, which was based on the 1939 Wizard Of Oz movie, which was based on a series of books. There's also several other Wizard Of Oz based movies, some which are not musicals. How about a Wizard Of Oz movie with a Dark Side Of The Moon sountrack instead. lol

Why stop here? They'll be remaking "Lady Sings the Blues" with Waka Flocka as Louis McKay, Chris Brown as Piano Man and Rhianna as Billie.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

the reason why music and entertainment from yesteryear is being "recycled" and "sampled"...the reason people are running out of ideas is because

CULTURE has been eradicated, because it was exploited to the tilt during the past quarter century, the past 25 years, because the greatest illusion in the history of the arts, of music was brought forth and that movement for me should be defined as the Pop Ascension

if we dont' have culture to flourish, we really have nothing

clapping Sure did. And both Mariah and Eminem tried to play off their roles in the movie by saying, like Prince, that it wasn't representative of themselves as artists.

This is the only Ross film I haven't seen. I even have a bootleg of Out of Darkness.

I haven't heard of these two that are on her wikipedia page:

  • 2010: Met With Sandra Ellison and Tamia Holmes

Well hell, of course nobody gives a damn if you remake something they've never seen or heard of. But to take something that was extremely popular and try to remake and get that same popularity twice is rediculous.

How about movies about Jesus Christ or Ebenezer Scrooge? They continue to be made, and there's hundreds of those. Scrooge has been used as a plot for many TV shows as well, and there's Jesus cartoons. If no one was interested, they wouldn't get made, as they wouldn't make any money.. The average action and martial arts movies is about someone getting revenge because another party killed their brother, teacher, partner on the police force, family, girlfriend, dog, etc. Hollywood was making Batman movies/serials in the 1940's and they're still getting made.

You're talking about old ancient shit that began long before our lifetime. Of course it's going to be remade thoughout the ages. Hell, decades after we're all dead and gone, we won't give a damn if folks remake our movies either. But while we're all still living, don't be remaking shit from our era and putting a stain on the memory of the original. After we're all dead and gone, it won't matter because we won't be alive to see our stuff destroyed.

I can just imagine someone recording "Let's Go Crazy" and stripping it of all guitars and synths, slowing it down to a Lawrence Welk tempo with just a little Fisher Price drum machine barely tick tocking in the background and some thug shouting the lyrics over it like he was hollering across a prison yard to his "homies". lol

Unlike the other movies, before they could remake "Purple Rain", they would have to fight a certain little purple mascara wearing queen. Don't let the JW bible thumping talk fool you. That little heffer is just as evil as he always was when it comes to a fight. Hmmm....claiming to be overly religious but still evil as hell....I wonder if he's a Republican? lol

You aint' lyin'. They would really have to tangle with Prince to get to remake "Purple Rain"...and at the end of the day, Prince would not only have a cameo role in the movie as well as a cast handpicked by him and ONLY him, he would be directing it as well. lol

And he would probably record the soundtrack himself and it would end up sounding like "1999: The New Masters". Or he'd re-record "Let's Go Crazy" and have horns in it and all the "go, go, go!" stuff in it. lol

Hollywood has become so lazy and desperate, they're now starting to remake films that weren't even really successful in the first place lol Mahogany was actually a box office bomb when it was released in late 1975 (the theme song was a major hit, though).

So,how about a remake of Under The Cherry Moon? lol Let's give Pitbull the lead role.

But over the years, "Mahogany" has become one of those "cult classics" so even if it bombed originally, with all the interest in it in all the years since it's release, they must figure that fans of the movie might go see the remake. But in reality, the fans of the movie that actually do see the remake are just going to compare it to the original and see that it's not going to be as good because it's a different era now. Those were the 1970's and unless the movie still takes place in the 1970s, it's not going to be as good because it will be an entirely different movie.

The Divine movies are considered "cult classics" also. I usually hate remakes but I did enjoy the remake of "Hairspray". They kept it set in the 1960s and didn't try to update it to current times and make it be set in the 2000s. If they had, I would have hated it. I watched it mainly because I was curious to see how John Travolta was going to be as the mother. He did a DAMN good job but then again, being a queen just comes naturally to him. evillol

It's often referred to as a "bad movie we love".

True.

When I was a kid I had a fascination with this film and I still like it though I know it's pure soap opera.

Quote from my brother: "Diana is just playing herself".

Life lesson: Why would you follow an arrogant at best, just plain weird and freaky at worst, white guy half way around the world? Something's bound to happen.
