As much as I love Missy's new LP, I find it funny when she disses Prince twice on her record and then her or Timbaland manage to lift the hook from "Koo Koo" on one of her tracks.

diss 'im twice? i heard about the supposed diss on "work it" (that ain't a diss, btw), but what's the other one?

She mentions something about assless pants in the intro to Pussycat I think.

Is it just me or does her voice remind you of the Jamie Starr alter-ego on "Gossip Folks".

Who is dissin' who? A couple of years ago, Prince was the first to make a public criticism of Missy and Timbaland in an interview he conducted. Prince said that Missy and Timbaland were complaining because people were bitting their style. But Prince said that instead of complaining they just need to keep creating something new. He then when on to say how he (Prince) remained popular for so long is because he kept doing something new and different.

Well... since then, Missy has made several innuendos directed at Prince. But I don't think it's so much a dis, but instead it's sort of like tongue in cheek acknowledgement with a wink and a nod, because I think one of the things that both Missy and Timbaland have tried to do in the hip-hop culture is keep things fresh. Whether one likes their work or not, one thing you can say about Missy and Timbaland is that their work stands out as being unique in the overcrowdedness of hip/hop right now. And I have to believe that they were at least somewhat motivated by Prince's constructive criticism of their work to get to this point.

In an interview I saw or read somewhere between 2001 and now, one of them, I think Timbaland, had mentioned the interview and he said that it made them realize that complaining wasn't doing them any good. They took his advice and as a result the music is better than ever IMO.

And Prince was wrong how? He was right on.And how is Tim and Missy doing anything new? By sampling old beats like Double-Dutch Bus or Peter Piper? They are both whack and over rated.

In the case of the Double-Dutch Bus song, even that sample does not form the basis or platform for the entire song the way many other hip/hop songs do (such as many of Puffy's songs) Double-Dutch is only added into the mix as sort of bridge. But regardless of all that, in general, Missy and Timbaland's "sound" is very distinct and in my opinion, it doesn't sound like they are simply trying to be like everyone else, and they have created many unique songs as far as hip/hop is concerned, that was my point. Whether you or anyone else likes what they create is beside the point.

It's not that I compare everything 2 Lovesexy, but nothing has really hit me the way Lovesexy did. I've found something to love on each LP since -- even TRC -- but no LP from beginning to end has connected with me since Lovesexy.
