Randy Travis gets in another fight

http://music.yahoo.com/blogs/stop-the-presses/more-trouble-randy-travis-155427120.html

Randy Travis just can't seem to stay out of trouble these days. Just a couple weeks after being arrested and cited for driving drunk, the 53-year-old country singer found himself on the wrong side of the law yet again--this time for fighting in a Texas church parking lot.

According to a breaking report from TMZ, police arrived to the church in response to a call about two men brawling outside.People spoke to Plano police officer David Tilley, who explained that the scuffle was reported around 10 p.m. Thursday night, and that Travis was fighting with his alleged girlfriend's estranged husband.

The spouses were reportedly arguing over a family issue. "Randy intervened and reportedly an assault took place," Tilley noted.

He added that no injuries were reported and that he had no reason to believe Travis was drunk. "It's nothing more than what we run into on a regular basis."

Travis was cited for simple assault, which is considered a minor misdemeanor on the level of a traffic offense. Plano is about an hour's drive from Travis's hometown of Tioga, Texas.

This marks the third time this year that Travis has been in trouble with police. His earlier arrest this month was marked by bizarre behavior--entering a convenience store stark naked to buy cigarettes--as well as crashing his car. In February, he was found drinking in a different church parking lot and cited for public intoxication. He claimed at that time that he was celebrating Super Bowl Sunday. There has been no comment yet from his camp on his latest issue.

What does gay have to do with anything?! neutral Obviously, Randy has some underlying emotional problems complicated with drinking problems. He needs to get help pronto...before he ends up in jail, killing someone with his car, or dying in an auto accident. neutral

Yeah I don't even know why it's even brought up. neutral I've read so many stupid opinions that people self-destruct because they're "lying about their sexuality". What kind of cockamamie bull is that? confused But yeah I hope he gets help, whatever it is. He's been through this before and he has relied mainly on his faith.

I didn't know Randy had problems like this in the past... It has been many years since I even heard anything about him. But, I was thinking similar thoughts to your's after reading this post; subjects brought up in conversation with my gay friends.

Why is it that even people who claim to "accept" gay folks still rub their hands in glee over specualtion whether someone is in the closet or not? And I'm not just talking about celebrities but regualr Joe Blows--people know in everyday life. If being gay is okay, then why is there such a perceived stigma in society if some is "suspected" of being gay? There is a type of contempt involved in this whole speculation and outing process that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The only people in the closet I truly have contempt for are those who are, for instance, religious right-wing extremists who crucify gay people publically and pretend to be the total opposite of the people they are trying to villify. Otherwise, whether people want to reveal their gender and/or sexual preference is strictly a private affair IMO. neutral

Not to take this thread further out of topic but I think those "extremists" are not really Christian (or on the right). Otherwise, Christians would just leave you alone even if their thoughts differ from yours. But yeah it's a private matter and people need to stop getting in their business. I've learned from that.

I agree; I don't want to take the thread off topic, but I only brought up extremists to make a point. Plenty of people who aren't extremists or religious are guilty of this, too. Randy's problems, whatever they are, should be dealt with privately. Although the initial report of him driving drunk naked raises a chuckle at first, it ain't funny anymore. The man needs help.

I admit to a chuckle at the first report...but that was before I knew about his previous problems. You're right--it ain't funny.

I know, when I first heard the naked car thing I was like eek. From what I heard about Randy all these years, he was a very humble and stand-up guy... I'm glad to hear that his local community are offering help and standing behind him... Out of curiosity, do you find that to be the same way for you where you live?
