Weird Al ~ Jerry Springer

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

lol I remember when my family first got cable around '83 or so and I was watching MTV around the clock, Weird Al was hosting all the time. I loved his nerd-craziness back then... lol

We didn't have cable at first, but I saw Weird Al on Friday Night Videos and an episode of Dance Fever.

My grandmother lived in the country and there was no cable there. There's still no cable today, but there is satellite.

I lived with my grandparents, too. But, it was in a city, although they owned a farm in the country, also. No cable there--just the old black and white console TV. Everyone on our block, in the city, at that time had cable and us kids talked them into getting it. Then, after we got it, my grandparents got hooked on it, too. razz lol Just not MTV! razz

I'm surprised the Dance Fever performance is online. I only saw it when it originally ran, but I recorded the song on a cassette from the TV. I used to have one of those what I called a "church tape recorder". That's because I would see the ladies at church taping the choir or preacher with them. It's not the whole thing and not good video quality though. Somebody should show reruns of Dance Fever. I used to watch it every week. biggrin
