Bobby was interviewed on that Mike DVD I mentioned in the J5 new CD thread. So was Smokey Robinson and Russell Thompkins from The Stylistics. Percy Sledge was on it too for some reason. I didn't know Percy was still alive and not sure how he's related to the J5 or Mike. Did they open up for him?

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Not sure about Percy either. The J5 probably opened up for him. They opened up for everyone in the soul market circa late 1967 to early 1969.

Ronnie Rancifer was on the DVD as well. I didn't know he was with the group until 1977.

You know what's crazy, he's actually credited as a songwriter on two J5 era tracks. Jermaine's Come Into My Life and I Am Love.

That's weird, since Motown refused to let the brothers write.
