This makes a great two-fer. I was hoping for "Modern Heart" and "How Bout Us" as a twofer but they are releasing the latter as a single CD. Which I thought was unnecessary since the only bonus tracks available are 7" versions of the title track and "Im On Fire". "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

I'm really excited about this set I have Modern Heart on vinyl already, but I could use a good CD upgrade. It's a great album featuring their finest single "Try Again".I never had the Woman In Flames album but I love the first single "Off And On Love".Their music has been out of print,or very hard to find, for years.I'm glad to see that their catalog is finally getting the care and attention it deserves.
As for How Bout Us...they should have just placed it in this set and made this a 2-CD set, similiar to the Con Funk Shun 3-album compilation which contains three of their early-80s albums spread across two discs.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I was really excited about FunkyTownGroove's upcoming remaster of GQ's 'Disco Nights' CD but now I find out that Big Break Records has their own remaster coming out, too! Disco Nights - GQGQ originally formed in 1968 as Sabu & The Survivors. They released three albums on Arista Records between 1979 and 1981.
DISCO NIGHTS was their debut album and also their most successful spending five weeks at the #2 position in the R&B charts and reaching #13 in the Pop chart.
DISCO NIGHTS (ROCK FREAK) was the first single from the album and gained them the #1 spot in the R&B charts as well as #3 in the Disco chart and #12 in the Pop chart. It sold over one million copies in the US alone and has become an ultimate Dance classic.
I DO LOVE YOU was the second single and spent seventeen weeks in the R&B charts, peaking at #5.
MAKE MY DREAMS A REALITY was the final single from DISCO NIGHTS and saw GQ get their third R&B top ten in a row with it peaking at #8.
Also featured is the band’s cover of A Taste Of Honey’s BOOGIE OOGIE OOGIE which has gone on to be an underground club hit in recent years.
Released in deluxe Super Jewel cases with six bonus tracks, DISCO NIGHTS is a must for all Disco, Soul and Funk fans out there!

Is that irritating? Don't understand why BBR would want to flood the market like that. FTG has never released a title that was already released by BBR. But, BBR duplicates FTG titles on a regular basis. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

"If anyone here does order this, please let us know about the sound quality. I'm not sure if there is much anyone can do with any master tapes from Buddah Records. Phyllis Hyman's debut album received it's first reissue through Unidisc and it sounded so flat like the Unidisc reissue of "This Is Your Life". A few years later, The Right Stuff gave Phyllis' debut a stateside reissue with liner notes by David Nathan. I purchased the disc and it turned out the remastering sounded no better than the Unidisc release.
It's going to be interesting to hear what FTG is going to be able to do with some of these upcoming 70's Melba Moore reissues. I believe she recorded several of those albums with Buddah Records."
I have now received Norman Connors "This Is your life" on cd from Japan released today and as I expected the remastering is absolutely top quality, much better sound quality then the old Unidisc/Sequel version.
The new cd is crystal clear and at the same time very dynamic and at around $14 it´s nothing more then a bargain.I`m even thinking about upgrading "Mr C" and "Take it to the limit" .
Btw the Melba Moore cd with "This is It " from FTG also sound very good.

Thanks for the info! I ordered my copy from dustygroooves.com yesterday. I figured I'd take a chance that the remastering was improved from past reissues. And , like you said, the price was a lot more reasonable than most Japan reissues. I can't wait to finally hear these tracks the way they are supposed to be heard! "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! It's irritating and kinda hilarious when they come out with remasters around the same time In this case,I think I will go with BBR's reissue. They always have excellent liner notes.

^^ I love this Surface album!! I had the cassette in 1987 and I literally wore it out Had to buy another copy. The funny thing is...."Happy" was the big hit single on this album, but that song is not the reason why I bought the album.I was more impressed with the songs "Let's Try Again" and the hauntingly hypnotic "We're All Searching".
Also like the song "Lady Wants A Man",the best uptempo track here.
A really great album. The other two albums were also reissued awhile back, but I only want this one.
