The Wu Tang Clan appreciation thread

NINE members of lyricism. Hip hop had never seen nothing like the Wu Tang Clan and most likely, never will again. As far as I'm concerned, The Wu Tang Clan goes down in the history books as one of the most legendary rap groups of all time. nod

I was blown away the first time I heard "Protect Ya Neck" and "Da Mysteries of Chessboxin'"...I remember it like yesterday, they played the video out on "Rap City". nod Then when I bought "Enter the Wu Tang (36 Chambers)..first thing I heard was RZA blasting: "Bring da muthafuckin' Ruckas, bring da muthafuckin' Ruckas!!!"...oooooooooohhhhhhhh it was done. I was in love.

Which member of the group was your favorite?

RZA

GZA

Ol' Dirty Bastard

Method Man

Raekwon (the Chef)

Ghostface Killah

Masta Killa

U-God

Inspectah Deck

For me, though I loved all of them, it's the M.E.T.H.O.D. Man headbang

Come say it with me:

IT'S THE WU TANG

WU TANG

WU TANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (put the Wu sign up)

True true. To me it's hard to choose. Each member had their own specific high quality of talent. As far as solo efforts go...though I loved Method's "Tical"...hands down Raekwon's "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx" is a masterpiece. nod

Got to love the Clan!!!!

But individually, I too will have to say Method is the Man.....Tical bets all, as well as his inputs on the BlackOut! sets with Redman and then for the man to take it out on The Wire...Awesome.

But following, and not to far behind, is ODB(RIP)...Kicking Ass and some with Nigga Please.

But the resr ain't too far behind.

Go Clan!!

The GZA was always my favorite, his lyrics were always sharp.

I'd just started high school in 93 when they blew up and I remember me and my crew would always debate who was the best, it would always split between GZA, Rae, and Ghost.

Of course all the girls LOVED Meth

First of all "Wu Tang Clan ain't nothin' to f#ck wit!"

Secondly, my fav is Meth for his flow and his looks!!!

The funny thing is I like these guys, but don't own any of their material (I would put a smiley face here, but emoticons is not working for me!). I had Meth's - "The M.E.T.H.O.D. Man" on cassette (I believe that was the name of the song.

I think the RZA probably has the best career out of the group. He's the one that does movies too, right? I believe he's worked with Quinton Taratino (sp?).

nod Yes you are correct, RZA has had the most successful career out of the group with Method Man coming in at close 2nd.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

These cats were brilliant. The concept alone was dope. Who would have thought that a group this large would flow so well together. These guys were real life "Avengers". Everyone had a role to play. I guess that would make RZA, Nick Fury then confused However, my ears tended to perk up whenever one of those three turn were up. Especially GZA.

Inspectah Deck always got slept on though. Meth and ODB were probably the most popular.

Oh....and ain't nobody seeing them but OutKast and Run-DMC.

I think what was most of all genius was how they were able to secure a record deal as a group that allowed each of the members to get solo record deals with any record company of their choosing.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Ghostface has the best lyrics imo hands down.

But Ol Dirty Bastard has the best delivery imo, i can see why people admire him so much. He was far from a great lyrical master or play on words as Ghost or RZA but his half sing, half crackhead type rapping is just awesome lol

If you are a true wu fan..support the RZA film in October. The man with the iron fists aka Iron Fists.

ghostface has the best solo wu discography..

raekwon has the influential and if not greatest wu tang album..purple tape.

the wu tang is a force and brand.
