Love it or hate it, there's no denying that Miley Cyrus' new platinum blonde crop is a drastic move, and RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal that the extreme haircut is the latest sign that the teenager could be suffering from some form of emotional trauma.

"Miley Cyrus seems stuck in a set of compulsive behaviors that cry out for attention," Los Angeles-based psychologist Dr. Seth Meyers, who has not treated the Hannah Montana star, told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview.

The 19-year-old wild child unveiled her short, spiky blonde cut on Twitter late Sunday night, writing that she "never felt more me in my whole life" and was "feeling so happy in my skin."

However, her positive affirmations quickly became defensive following criticism of her new funky haircut, prompting her to proclaim that "opinions are like a**holes" and "self-love is the greatest of all flatterers."

By Monday, Miley already seemed to regret her trigger-happy move and hid the style she was previously so proud of by pulling her plaid shirt over her head when spotted out in Philadelphia while visiting Hunger Games fiancé Liam Hemsworth.

The newly-engaged star's drastic new ‘do comes in the wake of speculation that she has been cutting herself again and is hot on the heels of the dramatic weight loss that she has chronicled on Twitter with flesh-baring photos.

"Miley Cyrus' parade of unusual and provocative behavior recently reminds me of Britney Spears' downward spiral in the past," explained Meyers, referring to The X Factor judge's meltdown in 2007 when she suddenly shaved all her hair off.

"The apparent recent marks on her wrist, the drastic haircut, and an undeniably fledgling career suggest to me that Miley is overwhelmed with anxiety, feeling lost and uncertain about her future. Her loved ones should keep a close eye on her in case her impulsive behavior continues and gets worse, potentially putting her at risk of self-harm," he warned.

Wild child Miley got her headline-making haircut from Beverly Hills stylist Chris McMillan, who created Jennifer Aniston's iconic 'Rachel' cut in the 90s.

its alot deeper too, i know people write things off to easy answers, but theres huge differences between her and britney, first of all, Miley is not even close to the popularity and success that Britney had, britney was a worldwide mega selling superstar, Miley was a one off Justin Beiber like star, with almost no hits at all, Britney was/is a mega star whether people like that or not, Miley is about as relevant musically as possibly Jessica Simpson at this point, not knocking Jess cause she got talent, but Miley is so low on the successful star scale, Britney is an iconic figure, Miley is an invented star. So i dont know her issues, but i doubt its really even anything, is she acting out, maybe but at this point no one even talks about her anyway.

Oh yeah man. Have you SEEN that haircut? It is like the Adolf Hitler of haircuts. There must be meaning to be found if we keep talking about it long enough.

I never knew who she was, untill all these threads here on the org pop up, because she cut her hair!

I've had short hair for pretty much all my life, apparently in America that means I've been provocative all my life?

She comes across as a decent, nice and mellow girl to me.

If I were her, the only thing that would drive me crazy is the absurd media attention for her new look. Do these journalists know that there are actually newsworthy things happening in the world? Events that are a billion times more relevant for everybodies' life then Miley her new haircut???!

I really don't know if I should laugh about the stupidity of to much attention for a girl who dares to have short hair in America, or cry, because it shows the sheer ignorance about important issues in US media.

It just shows how US media pressures women into being a barbie doll, and not dare to have a taste for clothes or haircuts of their own.

Apparently she challenges that social rule of how a girl should be in America. If you don't look like Barbie with long hair and pink dresses, you get labeled as 'mental'.
