Would you ever go up to them?

As much as i admire a lot of artists, i do not go up to them and try to ask for a picture or anything.

I always find it silly when people freak out when they see an artist & go disturb them for picture, autographs & yada yada. I understand they entertain us and some believe they should give back to us by at least giving a picture.

But idk i find that to be silly, they walk down the street like normal human beings... they don't need screaming fans everywhere.

I saw Slash back at the Shutter island premier in 2010, he was 3 rows behind me with seasn atrick flannery & of course i told my friend ahhh shit it's slash!

But i didn't say anything to him... and this crazy heffah after the movie ran up & gave him a hug afterwards & he gave this look like bitch are you for real?

So if you see an artist you like do you ever ask for an autograph or picture? or do you just walk on by and think nothing of it.

Only if there is a signing. Otherwise I'm way too busy to be dealing with them. If I'm hanging out I might say something witty if I can think of something fast enough, but normally I don't acknowledge them. Not even when they're being big attention whores.

If I saw Beyonce in person. I'd pass out.

Anyone else, I won't bother them.

True! a signing is totally cool. But if just a regular day thing then eh...

And it is true, being in L.A i have seen Celebs c & d list mainly who love those paparazzi cameras

They are trying real hard to become A list.

Though, at the end of the day, they are just normal human beings like you and I who make a shitload of money. If I see Mitt Romney in person am I going to run up to him and go "OMGICAN'TBELIEVEIT'SYOU?!?!!111" Hell no.

i lived in nashville in the early 90s and saw plenty of celebs. i workd at a restraunt during the day and in Turtles record store at night(saving for univ). many of the popular country and gospels stars came in to rent movies and buy music, a few did in stores but that was mostly rockers. it was where i met dez dickerson and his family. i got so freaked the first time they came in i had to leave the sales floor and hidein the toilet to calmdown. after that he was just another customer. a lot of the sparrow music artist came round(thats where dez or his wife(i forget) was working at the time. my favorite memory of dez was the night it was kinda slow so me and jim and kellyhad a sorta disco evening. we got prettycarried away anddidnt realize it until i looked up and dez had got 2 movies and went to the checkout. and while he was checked out he did the YMCA dance with us. LOVELOVELOVE!

duncan jones had just started his advance degree at vanderbuiltand could be found around town have a drinkorwhatever. very nice and unassuming and looks more like his dad in person than he does in pictures.

but not all of them are cool.

I met Richard Marx once. Really nice guy. It felt a little akward because I got into a conversation with him and I really wanted a photo and autograph and I tried really to ask without seeming pushy and I screwed up really bad

I don't bother them.

If I see them on the street, or out eating, or doing what the rest of us do, then I don't feel I should disturb them.

But if it's a social situation and everybody is talking, I will join in or introduce myself.

For me, it depends upon the circumstances by which I have come across them, the environment we are in, and how I feel about them personally. I have responded in ways that have ranged from ignoring them, to engaging them in further interaction.

Generally speaking, if it's convenient, and I can do so without making a fuss, I'm likely to just approach them with a smile, extend a hand if it seems appropriate, let them know what a pleasure it is to see them, then promptly turn and continue on about my business, as I leave them to theirs. My main rule of thumb is to not create a scene that will leave that person feeling uncomfortable or violated.

By treating them with respect, I have often been surprised by the amount of time some "folks" have been willing to spend with me.

If an artist is in a small venue, I will and have gone up to them (or their crew) to ask for autographs. The last two in recent history: Sheila E. was signing things for peeps after a concert and I had her sign drumsticks and a CD. It was hard for me to follow up the Mom in front of me whose son danced on stage with Sheila but I did tell her that after her work-out on the drums, I needed to go back to the gym... She laughed.

The other time was recently when I saw Van Hunt perform and I asked one of his dancers to have him sign a handbill. He did--signed: "Stop stealing posters!--Van Hunt."

Oh, yeah! Forgot about the time Mick Jagger went to a movie I saw with his daughter when I went with a friend in my city--but no one, including me bothered him. That--is the mark of respect and

Oh, yeah! This was during the first showing of the Frida Kahlo movie.
