Two Jay-Z Documentaries Reportedly Coming Two Jay-Z Docs Reportedly Coming: One From Will & Jada Smith; The Other, Ron Howard, Brian Grazer
First, the New York Daily News (NYDN) reported that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith were producing a Watch the Throne documentary, via their Overbrook Entertainment company. A portion of that doc was reportedly leaked onto the web last week, and according the the NYDN, the documentary film will give fans a look at the highly successful album’s recording process, and will make its premiere in full at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday, Sept. 9. TIFF has announced most of its lineup, with 2 categories still left, so maybe this news will be revealed eventually, as the film isn't anywhere to be found in the hundreds of films that have been listed thus far. Secondly, the New York Post (NYP) is reporting this morning that the super tag-team of Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are making a Jay-Z concert documentary, to be shot at his "Made in America" music festival in Philadelphia, early next month. Included in the lineup are Drake, Pearl Jam, Run-DMC, Skrillex, Rick Ross, Miike Snow, Odd Future and Janelle Monáe. Grazer told the NYP that he's producing the film with Steve Stoute and Jay-Z, while Ron Howard is directing, and that the film will be told through Jay-Z’s perspective - as in... how he puts the event together, and more. Grazer added, "Jay stayed the king for a very long time... I can’t even begin to explain how he is capable of remaining relevant. He is a phenom, like a musical Michael Jordan." http://blogs.indiewire.co...ian-grazer
