The Dukes Of September Tour!!! This should be pretty dope if you ask me.

ORANGE BEACH, Alabama -- They’ve all got their own successful, separate careers, but they’re taking some time away from them to do what musicians love to do — play music.
They are the Dukes of September Rhythm Review, a brotherly alliance of three modern musical giants: Donald Fagen, Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs. This trinity of solid-gold frontmen first teamed up two years ago this fall, at least partly out of a desire to take a step back and play in a band again, like they all did, individually, in their earlier days. To have some fun, play some songs they don’t usually play and hopefully put on a show that people will talk about for a while.
Their tour comes to the Amphitheater at The Wharf in Orange Beach on Saturday, July 21.
“This is where we get to go out and play as each others’ sideman. We get to go sit back and play our instruments and let somebody else take the lead,” said Scaggs, the smooth-voiced singer and guitarist. While each of the three has a unique and unforgettable singing voice, it’s good to remember that each is also an exceptional instrumentalist. As Fagen and McDonald weave their various piano and organ parts, the mostly R&B-flavored material allows for Scaggs to explore his crafty, soulful guitar chops.
“When we can find this common ground, and when it clicks, it’s satisfying in a way that nothing else is,” said Scaggs.
And with Steely Dan mastermind Fagen in charge, there’s no doubt that the band will be top-notch — sophisticated and slinky, sufficiently down and dirty. Expect to experience a supergroup of sorts that covers plenty of musical ground. And if they’re having fun doing it, it seems like a win-win-win.
Scaggs and McDonald spoke about the tour during a phone interview in late May, as they were rehearsing for a 43-date tour that started June 20. The Orange Beach stop is roughly halfway into the tour.
The Dukes of September band includes several members of Steely Dan’s recent touring lineup, including ace guitarist Jon Herington, two backup singers and a horn section. Fans should not expect a “greatest hits” show. The musicians’ goal is to play plenty of the classics for which the three singers are known as well as some that fans may not expect. (A gem from their last tour, in the fall of 2010, was a snaky take on the Grateful Dead’s late-’70s “Shakedown Street.”)
“We did everything from Grateful Dead to Beach Boys to The Band ... a lot of old soul tunes and things,” McDonald said.
The three share a mutual love of R&B, said Scaggs, and a particular joy for him is being able to showcase all of their unique singing styles, separately and together. McDonald, who toured and recorded with Steely Dan in the early 1970s before going on to superstardom with the Doobie Brothers, pointed out that each of the three bring strengths from different genres. He placed himself in a “pop/R&B” category and said Scaggs provides a bluesier element, while Fagen and the band veer into jazz.
He noted that he and Scaggs have been sharing bills for the last two years (as they did at the Saenger Theatre in Mobile last July), but this is a much different experience, for both the performers and the audience.
“(With) the three of us, it just becomes a whole other thing,” McDonald said. “One of the most fun things about this tour for us is we get to play a lot of these old songs that we love with one of the best bands we could ever hope to put together.” الحيوان النادلة ((((|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|)))) ...AND THAT'S THE WAY THE "TITTY" MILKS IT!

They're terrific! I saw them at a music festival a couple of years ago and really enjoyed their set together. My only complaint was that it was too short. Go see them if you get the chance; you won't regret it. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato
