Hello guys. The bust is great but it isn't the final monument for Michael. The final monument is this big statue you see in one of the pictures but it isn't finished yet. In August they will reveal the statue and it will be 2,10 m high. Still Martina and the others did a great job and I love the bust. We can be so proud! Thank you, Martina and thank you, Mistelbach for making this possible!

Martina Kainz and a priest...

New Statue in Honor of MJ that's going to be complete by his Birthday in Mistelbach, Austria

It's amazing how one person made such an impact on different countries, cultures, ages, and races. I think Japan, China, Brazil, and The U.K have a statue in honor of him also

Michael Jackson - The Stories you didn't hear

On the Big Bang Theory, Sheldon and Amy Farrah Fo...eme Theory to see what type of gossip is more likely to travel through a social circle. Said Amy to Penny, “Sheldon and I engaged in sexual intercourse, in other news, I'm thinking of planting a herb garden.” The news about her herb garden was never repeated once while the comment about her sex life spread within seconds. I think this is pretty much what happened to Michael Jackson. More or less. The weird, outrageous and sexual comments about him spread further and lasted longer than anything good and boring he ever did. So let’s take a second to talk about his “herb garden.”

In 1993 Oprah Winfrey went t...l Jackson. Michael Jackson was so popular that 90 million people around ... interview, which set a world record in television history. But what of it, to the King of Pop, who could break records without breaking a sweat. The interview was monumental because Michael had not given one in 14 years. Quite different from the celebs of today, who Twitter and Facebook the mundane details of their lives constantly for attention. So, at the peak of his popularity he was also deliciously mysterious. Oprah of course dove in and asked him about all the juicy rumours that people think are important. Skin colour, plastic surgery, sexuality. Then true to form, because there was nothing else titillating to talk about, his charity work was touched on at the end of the interview. And we learned a very special thing about Neverland.

Did you know that Neverland had a theatre with special private rooms built into the large back wall, equipped with professional hospital beds, so that sick and dying children who were bedridden could watch magic shows and movie marathons, with other cancer patients, who were well enough to sit in the seats below? Of course, all necessarily accompanied by parents, doctors and nurses. This struck a chord with me as I realized, this was the side of Michael Jackson that people didn’t talk about so much. So I looked up his humanitarian side and was blown away by a 24 page document detailing his mind blowing charity contributions.

To list just a few details. Michael:

  • Equipped a 19 bed unit for leukaemia and cancer research.
  • Donated ALL the money he received from his Pepsi commercial to the Michael Jackson Burn Centre for children.
  • During his Bad World Tour, he spent time with children backstage who came in on hospital beds and were so sick they could barely hold their heads up. He knelt down for a photo with all of them.
  • Royalties from the “Man in the Mirror” single were donated to Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times, a camp for children with cancer.
  • The recording of “We are the World” resulted in over $60 million dollars being channelled directly into famine relief around the world.
  • The song “Beat It” was donated for use in anti-drink driving campaigns.
  • 1995 - he actually donated significantly to the Jane Goodall Ape Research Institute.
  • 1996 - Micheal contributed approximately 85% of earnings from the Indian leg of his HIStory World Tour to help create jobs for 270,000 Hindi young people. In the same year he also donated $100,000 to an orphanage in Bangkok he visited, as well as personally distributed toys and gifts at the orphanage and also a school for the blind.
  • Donated $1.1 million in 1997 to a charity in India that helps educate children in the slums.
  • In 2000, Michael Jackson was listed in the Guiness Book Of World Records for the "Most Charities Supported By a Pop Star".
  • Hosted 200 Air Force families at Neverland in 2002.
  • In 2004 he received a Humanitarian Award from The African Ambassadors’ Spouses Association (AASA) for his international efforts, but especially for his work in Africa, where he supported programs to build and equip hospitals, orphanages, homes and schools, in addition to financially supporting Child immunization, programs for HIV-AIDS, education and apartheid.
  • As an endorser of the Make-A-Wish Foundation as a donor and Wish granter Michael always gave ill and underprivileged children free tickets to his concerts.

In many cases, the children Michael Jackson helped were ecstatic to meet him. But in other parts of the globe, the slums, the orphanages, the children had no idea he was a world famous pop star. They just thought he was a nice person who brought hope.

I think it is rare to find someone who personally gives so much personal time and energy, in addition to financial support, to help others. The media is more interested in sharing how people selfishly, excessively, materialistically use their wealth (think Kardashians and all other stupid crap on the E! Channel) as this increases consumption, as opposed to promoting charity.

When Oprah asked Michael Jackson in 1993 what he felt was his life’s purpose, one of the things he said was “I feel I was chosen as an instrument to give music and love and harmony to the world." Maybe he was “chosen” to have such a phenomenal musical talent because his good heart could possibly help teach us something... I hope that people will remember his actual contributions instead of the drama and bullshit and know that, unlike so many other self-absorbed celebrities today, he actually did the best that he could to try and heal the world.

Why, at every MJ memorial event around the world, there has to be a damn impersonator doing a performance? neutral

I thought it was a highlights of the concert cd, the concert itself was way over 80 mins so it would never fit on a single cd.

I have mixed feelings when I see that statues and the monuments of MJ. It pisses me off that there weren't things like this before June 25th, 2009. Michael deserved to know this many people loved him, and honestly, the people who were wishy-washy fans should have been THIS loyal when he was alive. The older I get, and the more I read of Michael's writing, and reflect on him, as a fan, and as someone who was fortunate enough to experience his kindness and love for his fans first-hand, I get more and more how much Michael just wanted people's love, and for people to be happy. He went above and beyond to give his fans great music, great videos, great performances, and then tried to do a lot of good on this earth. As heartbreaking as his drugged up recordings were, that played during Conrad's trial, at least the world could see, even when Michael was in such a fragile state, and not fully cognitive, he was still obsessing over doing right by the sick/dying/needy children of the world. There are some days when I want to kick Jordan Chandler, Gavin, Sneddon, Diane Diamond, all in the face with a boot. But being angry won't bring MJ back. The world isn't the same without him in it.

But MJ wouldn't want his fans to be walking around sad and without purpose. We are lucky enough to have his music, his videos, his concerts, *his bootlegs razz,* and other merchandise as reminders of what we will all miss. And to the fans like me, who were lucky enough to have been touched/inspired/influenced by MJ during his lifetime, it is up to us to teach future generations the lessons MJ left us through his art, and his heart and soul.

I love you Michael Jackon. You have been my hero since I was 8 years old, and as I sit here, getting a little teary eyed as I type this, at 27 years old....some things never change.

Since this thread was recently restarted, I can't be quite sure if the post that I am writing is in response to a post from this thread, or the Lauryn Hill thread, in which Michael's name was brought up.

The poster stated that the success of Thriller was a fluke and that after that success, Michael wanted to be worshipped and looked upon as a savior of the planet (I'm paraphrasing) or something to the like. When in all actually, all he did was create a fluke hit record.

It took me a while to gather my thoughts, which is why I'm only responding now.

Yes, although I don't like to admit it, Thriller was a fluke. Not that it wasn't great, it's just that the musical climate was different then and he could reach more people. Although, from what I understand, Adele (of whom I really have no knowledge of) seems to be experiencing a similar amount of success. I actually don't care enough to think about how that could happen again, in this time, but I digress.

I'll concede that after Thriller, Michael changed. However, I don't look upon his transformation into this megastar with hopes to use his wide success as an opportunity to be an ambassador for peace in a negative way. Especially when so many other artists at the height of their careers love to say that "they aren't role models", and couldn't care less about how their music and their image negatively affects their young listeners.

Michael who of course wasn't a messiah or without flaws, but he really cared about the earth and the people who inhabit it. He was in a position to where people, some people, regarded what he said quite highly and he took advantage of that. To me, I see nothing wrong.

I can attest that Michael has been a positive role model for me growing up, even though he was as some like to say, "just a singer."

The world can be a nasty place and if Michael could in any way try to change that, he did. Not many artists can say that.

Michael will always have a special place in my heart because he served as proof that there are positive people in this world, regardless of how much money and fame they have.

His music, image, what have you, was a most welcomed escape from the grimier and intensely crude acts of his day and even now. I'm more grateful for him than words can express. With so much adoration for him, who knows what paths I may have chosen during my formative years if he (his image) wasn't so pure and positive. He made me feel that it was okay to be so as well. Believe me. Michaels infulence kept me out of a lot of trouble.

Yes, artists in the industry are technically just musically talented entertainers, but their influence can go a long way. Especially with youngsters. It's good that we had one entertainer that cared enough to want to save the children and protect our innocence.

At the BET awards, his sister Janet said that "to us, he was an icon", but to her, he was family. I have to be honest. That really insulted me. He was so much more that that to me, to a lot of us. I'd never met him, but he was more than just an icon to me. For me he was hope for a better future of the world, he was a happy ending to a miserable day. He was my inspiration.

IMO, SHE was the lucky one, because she knew him. She hung out with him, had conversations with him. She was fotunate enough to often be the recipient of his smile.

Us "fans" (most of us) will never have that experience or the personal, intimate memories that his family has to live on. To us, it was like losing a family member. A family member who we loved but unfortunately, always from a far. To not even experience being in his presence! However, I thank the heavens for him and will continue to miss him every day.

Reading that made me cry and really hit home. I believed all this too, but find it so hard to feel it in full now cause it's too painful and I'm too hurt that he's dead though I've gotten better. It's like his death wiped out a huge part of who I was before June 25th :*( And though I'm a Janet fan and was so emotional when seeing her, I think it was too early to say something like that, especially when her music has also inspired people to better themselves in it's own way too, at least for me.

I get upset Conrad didn't get him to a hospital. If mj wasn't drugged up, he was getting grand ideas that were stressing him out more and like a reaction to the drugs. I've come a long way but still feel very hurt he's gone though he's very much alive in his music. Now I'm getting used to hearing it again

That was so beautiful...hug

Michael meant so much more to me as well and I hate how people always try to tell you how you should feel about someone else. When Michael passed, thats all people told me.. He was just a singer.. he was just an entertainer.. no.. Michael was much more than that.. sad

There's also a video where they mention him. She's stunning by the way.

"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

“I Just Can’t Stop Loving You” made #1 on the Billboard Hot Singles Sales Chart!

Lastly, we have one more chart tidbit about a tally we normally don't write about. On the Hot Singles Sales chart -- which ranks the best-selling physically-released singles of the week -- Michael Jackson's "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" debuts at No. 1 with 5,000 copies. Its CD single was released last week exclusively at Walmart as part of the promotions leading up to the 25th anniversary reissue of Jackson's 1987 "Bad" album. "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" is a duet with Siedah Garrett and was the first single from "Bad."

"I Just Can't Stop Loving You" gives Jackson his first No. 1 on a Billboard singles sales chart since 2003, when "One More Chance" spent three weeks atop the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Sales chart.
