A lot of their 1970's music had R&B, funk, disco, and a bit of rock, but with gospel lyrics. Some songs aren't about God or Jesus per se, but had inspirational and positive thinking lyrics. I don't really know about any that were all the way secular, maybe Lyin' On The Truth could be.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Thanks for the info! I like inspirational, positive music but I'm an atheist so I'm wary of buying a full-out gospel album. His voice really touches me though. smile The one I bought was produced by the guys who produced A Taste of Honey.

I've always wanted to ask you too...how old are you?? Based on your musical taste, you could be any age...lol. Pretty diverse taste!
