Of COURSE I'm a Styx fan. Could there have been any doubt?

I saw them in '76 or '77, opening for KISS. They were great. Then I saw them a couple times over the last three years. They were still great.

The funniest thing, though. At one of the shows (must have been 2008), during intermissions you could text stuff and it would go across the big monitors, like an ESPN scroll.

Most people were texting about how much they loved so-and-so, or whether McCain or Obama was going to win, but then this went by:

TOMMY SHAW STILL OWES ME CHILD SUPPORT

OMG, I *still* laugh when I think about that, LOL.

That's classic! lol Probably why they stopped showing text messages on the monitors...

I went to a concert by them a few years ago. The guy right next to me freaked out because they didn't play Mr. Roboto and closed with Lady instead

I do like Styx smile but at the same time they need to quit pretending they where ''metal'' lol

They are one of the many classic rock bands that have gone on ''that metal show'' a show i watch on VH1 Classic.

They say how heavy there early albums where lol STYX you are a soft rock band... don't try to convince me otherwise cool

That works to wink

I also love Def Leppard & think of them exactly the same... but people try hard to say there ''metal to'' hell even Van Halen i can admit 80's wise pop-rock to cool and i'm cool with that.

I guess saying you are metal gives you an edge?:p

Their notes on "Lady"...

WHAT?! eek Especially Tommy Shaw's... jeez louise. doh!

Their Behind the Music docu was fascinating as to why Dennis DeYoung and Tommy Shaw couldn't come to terms with musical direction. Reminds me of all those '70s rock acts who did the arena thing and occasionally softer pop rock and then went directly into the latter genre in the '80s and, in the case of Styx, progressive and electronic rock.

And there's still friction.

I did watch some show on Styx that explained all the dissention that took place... I'll have to go back and look at Behind The Music again to see if that's the one I saw before...

Yeah I believe it's the BTM thing. I don't think they did another documentary where they freely talked about it. I don't think anyway.

Oh yeah got hardcore beef lol

It's interesting to note Tommy Shaw is about as clean cut as you can get, and he ended up in a band with one of the craziest, most politically incorrect mofos around Ted Nugent.

And there band was all ballads & countryesque songs.. i mean i liked the band but... neutral

And he co-wrote Shut Up & Dance with Aerosmith.

Nowaday's he's trying to pass off as if he is a hardcore metalhead & that styx where ''metall'' and songs like Lady & Babe where just phases lol
