Cher + Timbaland Working Together on New Project
August 3, 2012
Cher’s next album is shaping up to have some serious star power.
Already reported to feature a duet with Lady Gaga and two songs written by Pink, the singer revealed she has been working with Timbaland on the new record, which she says is slated for a Christmas-time release.
She tweeted the news over the last few days:
Gaga spoke about her Cher collaboration, "The Greatest Thing," last year. "I always write these concept records, and it just didn't fit in," Gaga said of the song. "But it's always been, like, this big, massive, beautiful hit record and everyone always says, 'Why don't you put that on your album?' And I said, 'I don't know, it just doesn't fit with everything else."
She added: "Cher heard the song and loved it and wanted to do it together. And I said, 'F--- yeah, it's Cher!"
Cher's new release will be her 26th studio album, and her first since 2001's Living Proof.

I don't know who's more desperate; Timbaland or Cher.

Don't know how to feel about this. By the way Cher's been acting a fool on Twitter.

Hope it's true, I want new music. That Gaga duet needs to fucking leak.

I could take or leave both of them separately. But somehow this intrigues me. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

What she do this time? I know she won't stop talking bad about Romney.
Anyway, usually with Timbaland either the songs work out well or they're very generic and able to given to anyone.

I wish celebs would not talk about politics, because music fans don't give a shit about their opinions.
Back to Cher and her music, I don't see her as "desperate" for her working with anybody. She is 66, an Oscar winner and a fucking legend. She's making music for her fans at this point, that's all that matters. Bring it on girl.

She went off on some dude about something (I forgot what) but she was typing in all caps and shit and writing indecipherable shit, I couldn't read verbatim just what it was she was exactly pissed off about and the person she was attacking was unsure his damn self.

I personally liked the songs Timbaland did with Duran Duran on "RCM" in 2007, but many fans hated them.
I'm hoping he'll do something very poppy for her.

Well at this point, he done forgot about urban anyway... Cher probably was a fan of the Nelly Furtado tracks or the Duran Duran ones and thought "hmm, this would be nice". Elton John was once trying to work with him but I guess he didn't get the "urban" flavor he was looking for and ditched the project for the Leon Russell collabo.

Yeah, you never know.
I agree with what you said about artists giving throwaway tracks to other artists though.
Those Alicia Keys songs written for Jennifer Hudson were all bland to me. Even "Million Dollar Bill" for Whitney was average at best.

Yeah it's never a good idea to have people just give away leftovers. That's why you always hear arguments about how no one is being creative now though that's far from the truth. The mainstream always gives things away.

I wish Alicia had kept "Impossible" (the tune she gave to Christinia Aguilera) for herself. I love it to death.

I had forgotten about that song. That was very good.

One thing that's interesting about Cher...
Have you ever noticed,up until now,she always waited until the end of a decade to come out with new music? Whatever sound is "hot" at that time, she jumps on it and has a major hit.The rest of the decade, you usually don't hear too much from her.
*In 1979,she jumped on the disco bandwagon and had a huge hit with "Take Me Home". *In 1989,she got into commercial,80s rock/pop and had a huge hit with "If I Could Turn Back Time" *In 1999,she explored techno/dance/pop and had the biggest hit of her career with "Believe".
If she had released a new album in 2009,she could have kept this trend going

Timbaland's beats ain't been hot in a minute.

Timbaland once said that he wants to be an all-around producer who works with different artists in different genres. After Madonna and now Cher,he has succeeded in that goal

and dont forget his collab with Chris Cornell a few years ago! Saw that album live with Chris and Timba and it was an interesting evening of music
Regarding Cher - more power to her! The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

I will always love her pop/rock albums "Cher", "Heart of Stone", "Love Hurts" and (to a lesser extent) "It's A Man's World". Never cared much for the dance albums that came after that. I hoep the songs Pink wrote will be more rock than dance. Just like the white winged dove...
