This is by far and away the best book I have read about Donna Summer. There are a few out there but none have come close to this excellent music biography and also with a great cover design.

'Donna Summer The Thrill Goes On' is a sincerely respectful work that does not engage with salacious rumours, but counts on evidence and good research. There is a lot of good info about Donna Summer's music and some great stories about it as well. In just a few days I have devoured this book and certainly there are numerous nuggets that I had not known despite calling myself a fan.

The book is excellent read with memorable episodes, such as the new interview with Pete Waterman about the 'Another Place And Time' album. The information about the making of the album and recording is fascinating. Interesting to read about the music industry and how Donna Summer and her melodies survives the ups and downs of the entertainment business.

I love the following chapters 'Journey To Her Heart The Virgin Tracks', 'There Goes The Diva', 'The Thrill Of A Live Show' and more. BUT you MUST read 'A Note From The Author' with Summer's music played at the background - say no more, very emotional.

The list of interviewees in 'The Thrill Goes On' is very impressive - producers, musicians, writers, broadcasters and fans. Even though Donna Summer not involved with the project she was aware of the tribute work. So read the book before you judge it. The book is a very interesting read and this is the author's first book. I will be looking for more by the same author. All I say is that you would not regret getting this book! It will be worth every penny. This is the music biography that someone of the late Donna Summer's stature deserved, and it more than delivers. Happy reading.

Goodbye and RIP Donna Summer.

The Thrill Goes On - her legacy lives on!!!

just an FYI...the author was working on this book long before Donna's death,so this is NOT one of those quick,biography-type books that are quickly thrown together when a celebrity dies.

Yes, the timing is a bit unfortunate in more ways than one... I'd seen it on Amazon some time ago but presumed that it was precisely that kind of book. It looks like it might be worth getting, then.
