Jan's was released first in late 1962 and was a reginal hit before stalling. The Fascinations released theirs a little after Jan's and hit the charts as Jan's starting moving up the charts. The Fascinations peaked at 108 on the pop charts. Jan did 100 spots better on the black chrats reaching #8 and hit the pop #14 in 1963.
