Mandrill & the Lowrider Band in LA last night Wow whatta show! The word is finally getting out about to do if you feel like seeing some War music onstage - ie don't go see "War", see the Lowrider Band with 4/5 of the living members, each one performing brilliantly. They were in beautiful form last night & their set of War's greatest hits was something else.
I'd never heard Mandrill before but took my uddy's recommendation, and was so glad I did. These guys are FIERCE. That was a display of funk muscle I have rarely seen in my life. The Wilson Bros. are still at the front, and they have put together a fearsome band of mosty younger players.
If either of these acts come to your town, don't miss it, this was one of the best shows I have seen in years. On the one hand it made me a little sad to see this incredible lineup only half-filled the JA Ford Theater, maybe 500 people there, but it was enough to make it happen, and it was a real special night.

Thanks man...Lord knows I wish I could be there and I'm praying that they will show up near me sometime soon. The real WAR/Lowriders is my all time favorite band in the history of the universe!
I am so glad that you discovered Mandril too 'cause they are bad as hell...did they play Hang Loose and Fencewalk? Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.
