Mariah Carey - Triumphant (NEW)

MY OPINION - GET RID OF THESE RAPPERS!!! Mariah only has the chorus and the bridge which is 40 percent of the entire song. And she's kind of off key when it came to the whistle notes but I'll forgive it. The songwriting was great, but the beat was unoriginal. I hate that Rick Ross signature sound effect he's always doing.

6/10

lol You almost had it. Just highlight & copy everything after the first = sign and paste that in between the [youtube:X]example[/youtube:X] and you've been set.

No worries though...

An easier way is to just use [youtube:X][/youtube:X] with the share link in between http://youtu.be/K_Lx9_5tPdQ

(youtube)http://youtu.be/K_Lx9_5tPdQ(/youtube) replace () with []

Yup she should be listed as the "Featuring"

And the sad part is, her voice is becoming more beautifully audible from what I heard so far - unlike the past recent years where you could hear her hissing through her teeth instead of actually singing.

That being said, I came to learn that she always has a few great surprises buried in her albums when you could brush off her lead singles. AND I keep hearing about her reuniting with Walter Afanasieff, now if thats true, then I'm willing to sit myself down for this one and listen.

To be honest she needs WALTER badly and has needed him for ages. I know the whole tommy thing etc....but Walter is a terrific song producer writer arranger etc...hearing the track he did with Katharine Mcphee on her first album made me think, why cant Mariah pull these songs out anymore....oh because Walter is out the picture

Mariah no longer has the voice to do the big ballads she did with Walter Afanasieff. Her voice isn't what it used to be, it's much huskier and raspier.

This song is ok...Not up to the stellar stuff we know Mariah Carey is capable of....I've heard better from Mariah not to say that the song is horrible.

Guys, this is not going to be the album version. The rappers are just on the single version. I can tell because in the remix she just put out now, she is singing the verses.

You know in the last album when it had ALL cameos in their singles?

It's like it's their song, not hers. Maybe her other cuts on the cd have depth. Well, i hope...

Easier than a simple bracket while making sure you aren't fucking up the UBB code with HTML and breaking the link with the icon above that highlights when you paste the URL in the first place?

Why is that so hard to believe? People's voices change as they get older. Plus, the type of singing she used to do belting out all the high notes is very hard on your voice. Your voice can get damaged.

I hope you're right. nod This sounds a lot like the hip-hop remix she would be releasing as a b-side to the main single. If this is what she's actually going to release to pop radio, I can guarantee it will not get much airplay, because no lite fm station is going to play a track with Rick Ross on it.

the song has potential and it's good , but the rapper erased the greatness of the song in my opinion...

Mariah Carey's "Triumphant" Comeback is Anything But

We try to forgive her.

By Danielle Cheesman 6 hours ago
It's been three years since Mariah Carey released an album, and it was one most critics would like to forget. It's also been a year since she had "dem babies," so we'd like to blame the utter lack of effort shown on her new single on sheer fatigue.

Mariah's never shied away from taking advantage of a rapper's shine when in need of a cooked-up collaboration: "Fantasy" featured the late O.D.B., "Honey" had the Lox, Jay-Z was guest on "Heartbreaker", "Boy (I Need You)" co-starred Cam'Ron, Snoop Dogg helped "Say Somethin'," and who could forget the femme fatale that fell flat, "Up Out My Face" featuring Nicki Minaj?

So it came as no surprise that for Mariah's anticipated comeback single, she went the Rick Ross route (since the rapper has no less than four songs in rotation on urban radio in any given week).

But where as, in the past, Mimi's musical matrimonies felt organic, "Triumphant (Get Em)" feels forced - and certainly opportunistic considering the Olympics (ad placement, anyone?). Using the Maybach Music Group for marketing purposes sounds good in theory, but when its labelmates front the first two-and-a-half minutes of your supposed return to the spotlight, you may want to re-think why you invited the friend that always steals your thunder in the first place.

Ironically, "Triumphant" - produced by Jermaine Dupri and Bryan Michael Cox (but strangely featuring Lex Luger's trademark laser tag) - is surprisingly somber. Slow horn-like synths give way to a verse from Meek Mill, while even sadder piano keys and strings back Rick Ross. Mariah, herself, has been reduced to a hook girl whispering generic inspirational quotes: "Can't fall down / stay triumphant / keep on living / stay on your toes / get off the ropes / don't let 'em ever count you out."

Ok, Mariah, we won't. But just this once.
