Ignition? i mean i like R. Kelly. But i don't think ignition had much of an impact after it's initial airplay
Well not now But back when it first came out not a single radio station wouldn't play it.
LAWD I Recall.
In fact BET was pretty much R.K.E.T from 2002-2004 music video wise Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

You might want to extend that to 2006 |

I honestly think the closest that has come to it....
Is Outkast Hey Ya! & Gnarles Barkley ''Crazy''
Both these songs where a huge mix of sounds & both where played on tonf of different types of stations.
Hell EVERYONE seemed to love these 2 songs! even the intense rock crowds got behind these 2 jams, the pop crowd liked the song, the funk crowd, the hip-hop crowd.
I haven't seen a song come out since these 2 that crossed tons of boundaries like that.
But that's just my 2 cents!
Hmm, I would argue that "...Baby One More Time" had a similar impact as "Hey Ya!" and "Crazy" did. There were quite a few covers of "...Baby One More Time" by rock bands, most of them were live and not necessarily released but just the fact that they bothered covering the song shows that it had a big impact. |
