John Mayer Appreciation Thread!

I've been listening to a lot more John Mayer lately and wanted to start an appreciation thread! If you're a fan of his, show your love for him smile

Funny you mention him. I was listening to him on my subway ride home. Waiting On The World To Change is my jam. I also own his 2 live DVD's and I got the recent CD, which I really haven't listen to. I guess I'm a fan. His voice reminds me of SRV.

That voice love

I discovered him only 2 years ago, but have been listening to him a lot since then.

Heavier Things is probably my favourite album, but I love them all.

Oh yeah, I've only heard a few new tracks from his album on Pandora but have been too lazy to listen to the whole thing on the rest of Youtube smile I liked what I've heard so far.

His music helped me survive my quarterlife crisis, big time. I remember the first time I heard daughters, I was driving home from work and ended up crying my eyes out because the song really hit me hard. Loved it a lot!

Thought his first two albums were great pop records (room for squares, heavier things). Continuim, although critically acclaimed and loved by many, i found a little dull. Don't know too much about his last two records, but it sounded like he was drifting into that country-ish "Taylor Swift" sound, which isn't really my thing...Still, amazing guitar player!

We're here, might as well get into it.

I've become a pretty big fan of the guy.

I remember when No Such Thing came out, I dismissed him as being just a Dave Matthews ripoff.

I heard Your Body Is A Wonderland and I really dug it but need to hear more before I could really have an opinion on him.

I liked Bigger than My Body.

It wasn't until I saw him on a Talk Show performing Come Back to Bed and his guitar work that I became a fan.

Once The Trio Album Try came out, it was a wrap. I was a huge fan.

Continum is one of my favorite albums of the past decade.

I kinda missed out on Battle Studies and I haven't heard his new record yet.

That's kinda understandable though since he can't really promote it because of his throat problems.

He may make songs for high school girls to lose their virginity to, but he can also play his ass off on the guitar.

JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!!

As a guitarist, he's pretty uninteresting. He's not "saying" anything we've never

heard before; he's very similar to an Eric Clapton. And he's not a great songwriter

either; he's a Jackson Browne type of dude.

But he's a pretty cool dude; not gonna hate on any guy who's smashed Jennifer

Aniston and Jessica Simpson.

Yeah I was wondering what other musicians thought of him, but you say he's similar to Eric Clapton with how he plays? How so? As far as his songwriting goes, most of his music connects with me because it's usually about quarterlife crisis stuff and whatnot.

I really appreciated his cover of Human Nature at MJ's funeral.

I find some his acoustic guitar playing similar to Clapton, compare Clapton's song "circus" or "back home" with Mayer's "heart of life" or "stop this train".

I really love that song Stop this Train, I think it's one of JM's best. I'll check out the Clapton songs to see how they compare wink

Do you think Mayer will have a long career? I keep reading something about how he's got some kinda medical issue now that's got his career on hold. Hope he gets well soon.

I'm not a trained musician or whatever but I imagine that Prince is more versatile on the guitar? Just an uneducated guess on my part smile

I play "Why Georgia" at least a few times a month...relate so much to the lyrics.

I like a lot of his songs..."Stiched Up" with Herbie Hancock is great and I'm a big fan of gloppy pop crap like "Say" and "Half of my Heart". The man can write some hooks and is very versatile but I am not feeling the new CD at all.

Was a big DMB fan for a long time but when John Mayer came out, I switched my allegiances.

He says some really, really stupid things sometimes but supposedly he is growing up now and realizes the error of his past ways.

As much as it pains me to say it, probably listening more to John Mayer right now than Prince.

All good things they say never last...

Yeah, Why Georgia basically inspired me to quit my job, move halfway across the country and find myself. I don't regret it at all.

I've also heard that John Mayer is hung, anyone know first hand? wink

I've always liked his songs, and would buy a songs here and there then I bought his most recent:Born & Raised and totally love it, 1st listened to it on a road trip.

And started buying all of his back cds

Something about when people have 'struggle' and unresolved issues etc they put out good music

His look reminds me of Johnny Depp

a few of my favs:

Speak For Me

Born & Raised

If I Ever Get Around to Living

Walt Grace's Submarine Test January 1967

Whiskey Whiskey

A Face To Call Home

Come Back To Bed

Home Life

Your Bodies A Wonderland

Somethings Missing

Daughters

Only Heart

Unfortunately its 100% real. It was on a John Mayer cruise from about 4-5 years ago...

Also, he is a talented guy but unfortunately a complete douchebag!

Just In! John and Katy Perry Jammin'. Lucky bastard.

HollywoodNews.com: In what may not be the best move, it is being rumored that Katy Perry is moving on from bad boy Russell Brand to fellow bad boy John Mayer.

It is rumored that the two were recently spotted at a party together and seemed awfully cozy, states Hollyscoop. Perry and Mayer allegedly seemed into each other, but it could have just been some innocent flirting(FUCKING). biggrin

Meanwhile, her ex, Brand, has admitted that he is currently seeing Isabella Brewster as the two have been photographed together a few times now.
