Soul and R&B icon, Al Green will perform at The Greek Theatre on July 19 with special guest Allen Stone.

The Reverend Al Green's extraordinary voice became known to the world through a string of legendary hits in the early 1970s, classics including "Tired of Being Alone," "Let's Stay Together," "I Can't Get Next to You," "I'm Still in Love With You," "Call Me" and "Love and Happiness." Green bridged the gap between smooth Philadelphia soul and gospel. In the mid-‘70s, he joined the ministry and by the ‘80s, was solely a gospel performer. Green returned to soul in the early ‘90s and has since joined Blue Note Records. His latest album, Lay It Down, garnered two Grammy awards and had Green collaborating with younger stars including the Roots' ?uestlove, who co-produced the album. Spin said of the release, Lay It Down (with tasty guest spots from John Legend, Anthony Hamilton, and Corinne Bailey Rae) makes it clear that Green's devotion to the primacy of his music's groove has only deepened with age."

Allen Stone has shot up the R&B / Soul charts on iTunes, peaking at the number 2 spot, and hit #29 and #62 on the Billboard Heatseekers and R&B / Hip Hop Album charts, respectively. He has garnered national praise and USA Today called him a "pitch-perfect powerhouse," all without any support of a label, publisher or publicist. Stone's self-titled sophomore album has pushed his sound and lyricism to a greater level of noted individually. His music is notable for his finely crafted evocative songs and fresh, smooth, soul-filled voice-one that certainly belies his age.

From 2 years ago at The Greek.
He always uses this song to let 'em know "that the Reverend still got it."
