I remember when LL made that diss record to Jay-Z because Jay wasn't promoting his record.

Decades ago, some musicians/singers (especially in the jazz & country fields) had "cutting" contests in clubs, which was a battle to see who played the best. Doo Wop groups did this on the street corners. Later breakin' crews had dance battles. It wasn't about money. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Don't forget the Motortown Revue battles and the battle of the blues that you could see for $1 a pop.

It was quite awkward also. And then he used 50 to back him up. That was a sad state of affairs right there.

Yeah, Marvin Gaye got booed because he was battling Little Stevie. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. Yeah he was whining like a grown-ass son still living in his mama's basement complaining about her mama cutting in on his phone time with his "woman" or whatever.

Even on the show that's what the whole discussion focused on. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Yeah there wasn't even a talk about money issues in that episode. Is that a record?

Shoot, these cats were young and full of piss and vinegar...they battled for cred.
I doubt they had any idea where any of them would be twenty years later. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

I even think someone talks about it in the show...I'm a LL fan, but at that time..he wouldn't have beaten Moe I have to get his book to see where he placed Rakim on his list

I forgot there was one minute they did talk about it.

Sho ya right...not even on his best day, Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Sorry, I might offend some folks when I say this, but I've always thought LL was nothing but a little bitch. He's just like Charles Barkley on the basketball court...a whiney.little.bitch. And my panties are supposed to get wet just because he licks his lips?
Carry on. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Missfee!!!! Cool J....a whiney lil' b??? Where did you get that impression? I'm not much of a fan of his now, but when he first burst on the scene......FUHGEDABOUTIT!!!!! I believe he was 16, I know I was 16 and HE.WAS.THE.MAN!!!! I recognized Moe Dee's skills, but I was always on J's side in that battle! Whiney??? Not "Jack The Ripper"!!!!
I don't know who he is now. He seems sort of "Hollywood". But back then......smh. -

Okay Okay...I'll give you that. When he first came out he was hard as a dick. But as time went on and he developed a conceited ego, that's when I lost interest. It became more about his damn lips than his lyrics. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
