UNSUNG: Kool Moe Dee

Another great Unsung episode. A lot of info I didn't know from a time when I actually enjoyed this genre.

Don't miss this one... cool

I'm watching this now! It's just reminding me of why I fell in love with hip-hop all those years ago! "The New Rap Language" is an all-time CLASSIC HIP-HOP song.....IMO.

Here's a Silver Fox interview from 2007. It's not only about Kool Moe Dee, but he's mentioned.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

This is back when I dug hip hop too, back when it was very organic with lots of diversity. Hell, you could get your party on, get your think on...etc.

Interesting to hear him speak about the influence that the hip hop founders had on him...I can't believe dude is 49 years old!

Riight?!!! But it's also is a testimony to how hip hop has survived...I remember when people thought it would be just a fad...hip hop is over 35 years old

I never knew he wrote a book...Amazon, here I come.

I also love where his mind is at. Along with talent that's what makes an artist interesting to me.

This was a great episode. He truly is Unsung. I've always loved Kool Moe Dee and still play his music til this day. How ya long me now is the bomb! I think he looks great at almost fifty. If he lost a little weight he would look almost exactly the same. I would love to hear a newalbum from him. Real hip hop.

Moe Dee was the best MC during that early era in hip hop IMO, even better then Melle Mel who's considered the best by many in that era

Just watched it. Liked this episode a lot, didn't really know too much about Kool Moe Dee but this episode helped me learn a lot about him. I love how articulate he is, but in a way, I guess it makes him come off to be this type of person that's not so easy to deal with. lol I mean, I can respect that, it's his personality and he really don't stand for no one's bullshit. lol Love it.

I would love to see him on a show talking about hip hop. In fact, it would be interesting to see Kool, Ice-T, Chuck D. and KRS-One on a panel together doing a debate. That's something that would have me glued to my seat watching... popcorn

Just because he's making more than Kool these days doesn't mean that LL won the battle. Besides, LL is involved in multiple ventures other than music these days, correct? So we really can't attribute his "7 figures" for record sales. Just sayin'.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
