I just finished watching it too. I never knew that there was that much

drama behind the scenes. I knew about Louis wife being bitter at

Michael and Felton for not inviting a few of the members back including

her husband for a reunion. It used to be said back then that Felton left

because of diffrences with the record label. I guess that was just the politically

correct way of putting it without saying he got punched by a band member.

Probably the best and juiciest Unsung story to date.

Yeah I see that. But it's true: Eric Clapton and George Harrison didn't stop being homeboys after they both went after the same chick. lol

Certainly one of the best Unsung episodes yet. Never knew the drama surrounding Michael and Felton. McCall's death was really chilling. He really had bad brakes after his departure from the band and to think that the court system dismissed the case on inconsistent evidence, it's even sadder.

This was one of the best Unsung episodes thumbs up! I really enjoyed this one.

I can't believe that the guys didn't like "Got To Be Enough" when Michael Cooper presented it to to them nuts that's one of their hottest jams!

Interesting story about the recording of "Love's Train".

I agree with you. Definitely one of the best.

I didn't know about the drama either. I remember seeing them in concert in abou 96 or 97 and Michael mentioned on stage that the lyrics to the song were a true story, but he never said it was based on the girl that he and Felton shared at one time.

McCall's death was really sad. It was sad from all angles to me. It was sad because Mike felt maybe if he had acknowledged him or invited him to the show that he may have gotten better. Then he seemed to just get even more depressed. Just sad.

The one member that made me go confuse was the guy that was the horn player. He felt that since they were a group that all royalities should be split for the songwriting. I said, u didn't write anything, so why should u get the credit?

I agree nod I think this is one of the reasons why Lionel left the Commodores. He was writing most of the songs but had to share royalties with the other members, because of how their deal was structured.

Another thing I didn't realize was that they worked for Stax and performing in Wattstax. I've seen that movie about 10 times and never put the 2 together.

nod I didn't get why they were voting for the splitting of a song credit either. Just didn't make sense. "No one person should be getting richer than the other guys"...umm really tho? That's what happens in groups.

Michael to me seemed like he had a major ego problem. Then to only invite the guys "he liked" to tour again as Confunkshun was just plain ole' childish. Now he wants to feel bad that McCall went into his downward spiral and got killed. Now Michael wants to feel regret rolleyes

This episode wasn't too bad. The Bootsy Collins episode is still my top favorite and most fun episode of Unsung though.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I have not watched this episode yet but I have a high school classmate that is the current touring drummer with band, Brian Collier. He also spent some time working with Tony, Toni, Tone. We haven't spoken to each other since then but I'm glad he's getting steady work.

Oh yes. I knew ConFunkshun cut their teeth at Stax. Jeff Osborne also played drums for

Rufus Thomas and some of the members of LTD backed Sam & Dave at Stax. We know

the Barkays backed damn near everybody at Stax. A lot of talent walked through the

doors of Stax.

In fairness to Mike, it seemed that he grew tired of some of the bickering

between other members. I also believe that Mike was ready to bounce after

Felton quit. He seemed reluctant to do their final album Burnin Love. He only sung

lead on a few of the songs. I remember during the Unsung they stated that Louis

didn't show up for a few gigs which probably didn't sit well with Mike in addition

to punching Felton over the whole songwriting controversy . It's sad what happened to Louis but Louis had his hand in several ventures as a promoter and marketing consultant and a business venture with his wife so it's not like he was on skid row the entire time after ConFunkShun. He might have started to get into a depression after his seperation from his wife.

I think The Ohio Players had this same deal hmmm, but Sugarfoot claimed that he was the sole writer..

I saw them in concert in 1996,along with the Mary Jane Girls, and it was an EXPLOSIVE show! They really rocked the place. The Mary Jane Girls came on first and at one point, lead singer JoJo said "Con Funk Shun is next,y'all....we wanna see them too!" lol
