Bobby Womack carried the torch in the 70s from him. That man's voice oozed thick honey, but most of all, a brilliant lyricist/composer.

"Hit The Road Jack" and "Send Me Somebody To Love" were his breakthrough standards, but his songbook is filled with gems.

Like Johnny Ace, he had that "singing way down from the rabbit's hole" element going on. Which is right up my street.

Him too... "Please Send Me Someone to Love" is still one of the greatest songs of all time.
