Nas discusses 'magic' Amy Winehouse collaboration Cherry WineThe new single is part of the US rapper’s new album Life is Good, which also features collaborations with Drake, Rick Ross, Mary J Blige, Swizz Beatz and Heavy D.
But it’s the soulful track with Winehouse which really touched Nas, who said the single ‘Cheery Wine’ came from ‘God and Amy’.
'Salaam [Remi – record producer] worked on her last album, and they were working,' explained Nas to NME.
‘We don’t even have an explanation for how it happened. It was just magic. It just happened. It was supposed to happen. She made it happen.' ![]() Nas collaborated with Amy Winehouse using Skype
Nas previously said that he wasn't sold on the idea of recording his previous posthumous duet with Winehouse, Like Smoke, which appeared on the singer's no.1 album, Lioness: Hidden Treasures. 'Part of me didn't want to do the song,’ he added.
‘Amy and I share a birthday, so she was my sister. And she was just so much fun to be around. She would say things about well-known people in the industry that she didn't like and it would just crack me up… We were all hoping she would pull through and come back.'

No thread about Amy & Nas would be complete without her ode to him:

I hate Nas' lyrics on Like Smoke.
The other collabo is much better. The vocals from Amy sound like the Frank era. "Keep in mind that I'm an artist...and I'm sensitive about my shit."--E. Badu

Yeah, I thought "Cherry Wine" was a better collaboration too.
