Whitney Houston - I'm Every Woman

BETTER than the original. Sorry Chaka fans, Whitney did this. One of my all time favorite songs.

Shame she didn't win a Grammy for this masterpiece, she lost to Toni Braxton. The R&B Category never gave Whitney any love.

Enjoy!

Remember when Whitney died and everyone in this org was RIP-ing,

and crying, and shaking their heads and wailing and wallowing and

I said:

Shut the fuck up. You didn't know her. In two months, you'll all

move on with your life. The outpouring of grief is communal and

not personal. Y'all are just acting out with grief because you think

you are supposed to when a celebrity dies.

Ya'll remember that? Well, I was right. Life has moved on. Nobody

truly cares about Whitney other than her family - not us goofy fans.

I agree with Towel: Houston's version is doper than the original.

I agree, it's funny because the DAY BEFORE she died people were calling her a toothless crack ho.

I guess they were mad Whitney kept shitting on their faves.

I always was a fan of the intro of this song... that alone gives the original version a run for its money.

Love this remake.

But its stale as the day is long comparing to the original.

When Chaka sang "I got it!" she meant every letter in that sentence. Nippy didn't give me the same gusto, or 1/2 of it for that matter..

Maybe it's best if we don't compare...

I've been in this forum too long to know what happens when you do comparisons.

So I'll say each version had its highlights... can't really go wrong with either and since I'm an '90s child, personally Whitney's version was more fun to me. lol

No. It's because she was dating Ray J, high on drugs and getting into fights with a low life (fame obsessed Stacy Francis).

Stymie

In my opinion Whitney added nothing to the original.

I'm in agreement with Stymie, she did not add anything to it for her version to trump Chaka's, I would believe that old school radio would play Chaka's nine out of ten. Just as Luther did plenty of covers that were better than the original, Nippy only had two that I feel are greater, the obvious one and Saving All My Love and that's because I never heard Marylin McCoo's version until it was brought up here some years ago.

This was also a bigger hit than Chaka's. Top 5 Pop and R&B.

C'mon man, you must be joking. Is the "obvious one" "Greatest Love of All" or "I Will Always Love You"? What about "All the Man That I Need"?

I love Whit, but I wouldn't go that far. I like her verson a lot, but I definitely prefer the Isley Brothers' "For the Love of You." But I agree in general.

I've actually never cared for that song period.

It's so dull, no matter who sings it.
