Chaka looks great. I don't understand why some people are up in arms-Aretha is a great singer but in this pic she looks bad. That's all. For some of us it's not about male vs. female either-I think Mick Jagger always looked like shit and now he looks even worse. I think Tina and Patti look great at their ages. Diana too. Just because someone is a musical legend, it doesn't mean he/she is above criticism. I'm glad Aretha has lost some of the weight. Hopefully she'll look better in future pics.

Indeed. We all will get old if we're fortunate enough to live that long. And, we will not look as good as we used to either.

I think what we are looking at is the wig of a little 70 year old lady, who just happens to be the Queen of Soul. The Queen's wig just happens to be blonde and long and not at all like the average grandmother's wig; which is too bad, cause that other wig might flatter her more.

And after all that she has given over the years. And what Divas, Legends, Queens throughout history were performing at her age, in the venues she is throwing down in? She just got raves at Essence. C'mon now. Fuck the picture, bow down.

It's the choices and the icon that people are looking at, not the woman. I think it would be quite incredibly something to sit down with her and story a bit. Just a glass of sweet tea and a smoke under the back porch roof, in the swing and a house dress, by the fan, without the wig and the outragous demands to live up to.
