Jill Scott - Crates Remix Fundamentals Vol. 1

Didn't see a thread about this. Was seemingly quietly released on June 26.

Basically, a remix CD of some of Jills's tracks - house, dance, and simply some laid back alternative/remix versions of songs.

Track Listing:

1. Can’t Explain (The Case Boogie Mix) 3:08
2. Bedda At Home (The Rivera Mix) 3:33
3. Talk To Me (The 314 Mix) 4:02
4. Whatever (The Mr. Mig Powerful Love Radio Edit) 3:33
5. Spring Summer Feeling (The Ron Trent Remix) 10:22
6. Come See Me (The B-Sharp Clubin Mix) 3:29
7. Slowly Surely (The Teddy Vee Remix) 4:05
8. Golden (B-Sharp Afro Centric Mix) 3:57
9. Brotha (The Inferno Mix) 4:13
10. A Long Walk (The Jazzy Jeff Redux) 3:58
11. Love Rain (The Key West Mix) 4:08

I think it's fantastic. Love all of it, but especially tracks 1, 3, 5, 10, and 11.

Spring Summer Feeling is just an excellent house track.

Feedback has been pretty positive. Of course some people won't like it, but I read a few comments which said that such a CD offends the "purity" of Jill Scott's music and they don't like that the original songs they love have been screwed with. I thought this was odd. I always think of remixes or alternative versions as simply a different song. It's not like you have to only like the original or the remix, as if one replaces the other.

Highly recommended

My favourite Jill Scott remix is A Long Walk's A Touch of Jazz, which I consider better than the original.

Against the ruin of the world, there
is only one defense: the creative act.
