Jermaine Dupri Hosts Austin Brown Listening Party

The liquor was flowing, the sun was shining, and the music was pumping as Jermaine Dupri hosted a listening party for rising star Austin Brown at the El Cartel Tequila mansion in the Hollywood Hills during BET Awards weekend.

The nephew of the late King of Pop previewed music from his upcoming debut Highway 85 including his single “Menage a Trois” as celebrities such as Melody Thornton, Too $hort, and Evan Ross stopped by the poolside soiree.

“He has a fresh new look to this music scene and I think that’s what we need out here,” J.D. told Rap-Up TV of the 26-year-old singer, who he manages.

Brown has worked with Rodney Jerkins, Q-Tip, Ryan Tedder, and Pharrell on his album, and maintains a close relationship with his aunt Janet Jackson, who he calls his best friend. “She’s the one who gives me the most advice,” he said of the pop icon, who introduced him to A Tribe Called Quest.

Love Austin Brown... seen some of his live clips and he definitly has the Jackson gene in him razz as well as the look. I'm rooting for him. He needs to stay FARRRRRR away from Dupri though.

He's lucky to be working with producers such as Dupri and Darkchild.

True...... but I just dont see Dupri really enhancing his sound. The last clip I saw of Austin it sounded like he was going for that 70s feel. I dont see how Dupri could help him in that department maybe Darkchild. He should work with someone like Babyface... hell or even R. Kelly.

I dont think Austin is trying to be a pop star but then again maybe your right. I think he can established a sound before being well known and then grow from there...

Menage a Trois is a very nice song.. Im feeling that sound... now if he goes with that route that should be interesting.

Midnight Man is nice to.. I see his influenced alot by MJ cool

City of Angels is nice to razz

I guess you were right razz

The other two songs are okay... but overall impressed its not as horrible as I thought. Now the question is, who is his manger???

I might have to cop his CD... Im so serious eek

menage a trois and city of angels sound good, but something is off too overall though he's very talented.
