We all know about the Godfather of Soul and even Soul Brother #1 1/2 Bobby Byrd. But there were 2 more Famous Flames, Bobby Bennet (the only current living Flame) and the greatest name ever Baby Lloyd.

Here are two of their singles released in 1965, both produced by James Brown himself.

Agreed. Someone needs to anyway... most of the Famous Flames are dead. I bet a book is on the horizon now though. Bobby's wife Sandra may write it, who knows? Stay tuned. I think with this R&R Hall of Fame induction, this has definitely brought a twist and turn into what people had thought about "Soul Brother No. 1". What I read opened my eyes to how integral the Famous Flames really were to James' career.

Baby Lloyd released an earlier single in 1960 on DADE (the same labe he did Do The Mashed Potatoes as Nat Kendrick & the Swans.)

Someone needs to release a box set of all the JB produced singles/his artist fro 1959 untill his partnership wit Polydor. Before Polydor, he released tunes and countless labels.
