The show started about 10:30, and was a free outdoor concert to promote Detroit's upcoming 20th Annual Concert Of Colors festival. In fact, she'll be back next week on July 12 to play again. The concert itself was great and she and the band were in a great mood, laughing and joking between songs. Her set was cut short due to rain.But the cool thing was when the rain started, a few people went and sat on the edge of the stage to get shelter from the rain, and as it started raining harder she actually invited the audience onstage! So most of us were onstage with her and the band,giving them just enough room to breathe and play. Obviously with it being such a dangerous situation she couldn't play much longer, so she ended with a SMOKING rendition of "Lady Cab Driver". Afterwards she thanked the audience and apologized for the short set. A bonus for me was conversing with Detroit legend Amp Fiddler and taking pics with him! This was my second time meeting him, I met him in 2009 on Meshell's Devil's Halo tour here in Detroit. It was such a great show!
