Redd Foxx with Kenny Watts Brooklyn Buddies

Redd recorded these songs in 1946.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Another comic, the great but underrated Timmy Rogers put out a few 45's himself. Though, this was after his fame not before like these Redd records.

Was that one track really the B-Side to "Open The Door Richard?" That was pretty big by Dusty Fletcher in the mid 40s.

At this point he hadn't done decades of chain smoking, which later gave him the famous scratchy voice.

I'm not sure, but I think Redd's 78s were released with him on both sides. I think the photo on the Youtube video is unrelated.

Ok, cause that was a pretty huge race record in 1945.

Redd's music records were on Savoy. They weren't particularly successful, so he was dropped.
