I've seen some reviews about Patti's recent concert performances (and even some video footage) and I wonder how long can she maintain a concert tour at this stage since she seemed like she aged 10 years (though still capable of singing real well, just not at the capacity she used to). This will be interesting. Basically a one-nighters set just about.

Isn't Tank kinda young to be doing a tour like this? "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

I thought that was interesting too: why is a two-hit wonder on this tour with legends?

Technically ALL those shows will be PACKED with about 60% or more of Frankie Beverly-Maze Fans....Make no mistake about it they are carrying this 16-city tour...
If I'm not mistaken Tank & BabyFace are not doing every date...I think there's a few dates where Tank will be there and BabyFace won't and vice-versa...
I feel the reason BabyFace, Patti, The O'Jays & Tank are doing this is because Frankie is close to all of them..This is not a random group thrown together...That's why Patti is the ONLY female performer....Frankie approved this line-up with the Promoter.....

I see... I did like his version of I Can't Make You Love Me.

So technically, this is a Frankie Beverly & Maze tour?

Babyface is doing all the dates. It is on his website. Tank is too from what I see on his website

maybe he was just having a bad night? I dont think so. The voice and energy is gone. I remember I saw George benson 3 years ago and felt really awful that half the crowd left in the middle Of his set. That Maze performance was like watching Wjitney struggle through her high Notes

a review from St, Louis show
Don't let the generic title fool you -- the Summer Music Festival Sunday night at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater headlined by R&B legends Maze featuring Frankie Beverly and Patti LaBelle was deeply drenched in true soul. The O'Jays, Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds and Tank were also on the bill of the near five-hour show, which felt every bit like the Budweiser Superfest, rebooted two years ago after being dormant for a long time. But with Superfest gone again, this Summer Music Festival easily stepped up to the microphone. There was question going into the concert over how Maze featuring Frankie Beverly would do. Singer Beverly was painfully hoarse when the group performed at the recent BET Awards, where it received a lifetime achievement award. But the gruff yet smooth-voiced Beverly, dressed in his traditional all-white (as were many of his fans), was back on top on his game. The band gave fans the kind of Southern-fried soul party only Maze can deliver on songs such as "Southern Girl," "Before I Let Go," "Joy and Pain" and "We Are One." The band, which is sometimes referred to as the black Grateful Dead, hasn't released a new studio album since 1993's "Back to Basics," but that never matters to fans, who move and groove to the likes of "Can't Get Over You" and "Golden Time of Day" without requiring a hint of anything new. "I can still do some things. It's not over yet," said Beverly, 65. Patti LaBelle gave what felt like one of her most low-key performances ever. Under layers of clothing that must have created some sort of sauna effect for her, the soul songtress gave a rare set that was without any of the vocal hysterics or theatrics fans have come to expect. She didn't even kick off her shoes, or invite men to dance with her during "Lady Marmalade," two staples of her concerts, and stood in one place the entire set. LaBelle sang touching ballads such as "If Only You Knew," "On My Own," and "Love Need and Want You" and disco-era nuggets like "Music is My Way of Life," "It's Alright With Me" and "What Can I Do for You" straight through. St. Louis gospel choir True Spirit joined LaBelle for her great cover of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and the finale "You Are My Friend," and in effect elevated LaBelle's entire set. Pictures of her famous friends flashed during "You Are My Friend" including images of Chaka Khan, Mariah Carey, Nelly, Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson, along with departed friends such as Luther Vandross, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. The montage also included pictures of LaBelle's three sisters and parents, who have all died. The O'Jays provided 30-plus minutes of what remains some of the finest old-school R&B harmonies in the business. The group, led by teddy bear-like Eddie Levert, got fans aboard its "Love Train" early on, and kept it chugging along with "Backstabbers," "Used to Be My Girl" and "For the Love of Money" and ballads "Cry Together," "Forever Mine" and "Stairway to Heaven." Singer-producer Babyface last performed in St. Louis in February on the evening of Whitney Houston's death, and paid an impromptu tribute to her that night at the Chaifetz Arena. But on his return to the area, he kept it more upbeat. He treated fans to his '90s-era hits first, "Whip Appeal," "Never Keeping Secrets," "Every Time I Close My Eyes" and "For the Cool in You" along with "Two Occasions" from his old group the Deele. Babyface spent the rest of the set showcasing songs he wrote and/or produced for others including a Bobby Brown suite of songs with "Don't Be Cruel," "Every Little Step" and "Roni." Babyface also gave a nod to Tevin Campbell's "Can We Talk" and Johnny Gill's "My My My." His brother Kevon Edmonds joined him for After 7's "Ready or Not." Tank joined the pair for a redo of the Boyz II Men lineup and "End of the Road." Tank opened the event, and his 15 minutes were not used wisely. His best moment came when he sat at the piano and performed his cover of Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me" from his 2010 album "Now or Never." Prior to that, the crooner performed "Maybe I Deserve," "Please Don't Go," "Emergency" and "Sex Music" to tracks.

It's coming to my area Saturday. I saw Maze last year. I would love to see Patti and the OJays but i'll probably pass on this one. I'm going to see Mint Condition and India Arie in August. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

Beware, Mint Condition is Lip-synching to their songs...A whole lot of people was mad at them when they toured The Township in my town....
I didnt go to the show but the radio DJ's in my area trashed them...For your sake I hope they are singing Live...

Are you sure this wasn't during the early 90's when they were going along with label politics to do track shows which the band quickly realized wasn't happening. I've seen them several times since 2005 and i've never seen them lip sync. Stokley ain't having that. Don't laugh at my funk

So give us the scoop when you see them... Wow. This is shocking news to me!!! I've seen Mint in concert too many times to count, (still have the ticket stubs) and I've NEVER, EVER seen them lip sync not one single song. And they do long sets with 3 song encores..... Something had to be wrong with Stokely.
