Steven Tyler AND J-Lo exit American Idol

BREAKING NEWS: Steven Tyler -- I'm QUITTING 'American Idol'

Steven Tyler will NOT return to the judge's table on "American Idol" ... and has compared the show to a deranged bunny killer. Tyler completed two full seasons on the show ... beginning in 2010. Tyler has issued a statement saying, "After some long ... hard ... thoughts ... I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress ‘American Idol’ before she boils my rabbit.” The comment is a reference to the movie "Fatal Attraction" ... in which an obsessed woman kills her lover's daughter's pet rabbit. Tyler continued, "I strayed from my first love, AEROSMITH, and I’m back – but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I’ve got two fists in the air and I’m kicking the door open with my band. The next few years are going to be dedicated to kicking some serious ass – the ultimate in auditory takeover."He adds, "On Nov. 6, we are unleashing our new album, Music from Another Dimension on the Earth, Moon, Mars, and way beyond the stars. IDOL was over-the-top fun, and I loved every minute of it ... Now it’s time to bring Rock Back. ERMAHGERD.”"A.I." co-creator and executive producer Simon Fuller released a statement saying, "I completely understand his desire to get back to his life as the singer in America's greatest-ever rock band. AMERICAN IDOL will miss him!”

I hear they're asking for one of its former contestants to replace Steven. I read about it on HITS. Several Idol contestants are apparently up for the job.

As much as I do enjoy the show perhaps it's time for it to end. When too many judges constantly leave it's not a good sign. The other thing I question, is what the contestants actually get out of it anymore. Glambert is probably the most succesfaul contestant along with Kelly Clarkson and Thingy Underwood. All the rest are in the "where are they now" file.

Well going back to Idol to judge if you're a former contestant is a downgrade. The fuck you wanna come back full time as a judge when you're supposedly "successful"? They should just cancel it.

Lambert didn't even win. That's another thing, the winners are rarely the ones who become the most successful. Look at Jennifer Hudson, she wasn't even in the top 5.

The only real sellers are Carrie and Kelly. That's all I'll say about the "successful ones".

I think everything started going down hill when they tried to add a fourth judge

Nah it was going downhill long before hand. People didn't say anything because it was the No. 1 show in America still.

I agree! If you end up as a judge on the show, that basically means your career has gone no where since you were a contestant. What a shame.

From what I've heard/read, the frontrunners to be the next judges are Katy Perry and Adam Lambert. The crazy rumor is Charlie Sheen is in the mix...normally I would assume that's damn false lol but then again for a season Ellen DeGeneres was a judge so nothing would shock me anymore lol

Being a judge gives you good promotion and a steady paycheck plus reality tv is more respected these days in the business. Jennifer Lopez scored big being on Idol, as she got 1 top 3 single last year and a top 20 single this year just from the promotion, in addition to all the endorsements she managed to get. Maroon 5 did even better with their singles thanks to Adam Levine's judge spot on The Voice show. Nicole Scherzinger tried to use X-Factor for the same purpose last year, but her album and singles bombed although she got some endorsements so financially she's OK. I expect Britney Spears' handlers to drop her next single/album during or just after X-Factor this year.

Personally, I'd LOVE to have Fantasia as the next judge on Idol lol That shit I'd tune in to watch nod She would give both credibility as a singer and the crazy factor that people enjoy as entertainment.
