. I just discovered "I Want To Ta Ta You Baby" last week! For real! It's awesome! I also discovered "Nothing Left To Be Desired". AWESOME! I think I'm a fan now. I'll have to do what I did when I discovered Marvin.....research this guy and get my hands on as much material as possible! Any suggestions on where to start? .

You sure won't get a dull moment browsing through his body of work. One of my fave guitarists.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Been a big fan of Johnny G since the late '90s. One of my all-time favourate blues and jazz/blues guitarists. And an accomplished jazz keyboard player too.
He's one artist I feel has never really got the critical respect he deserves. He had a great blues career in the '50s, then successfully reinvented himself as a post-Sly blues/funk/jazz cat in the '70s. I actually prefer his '70s funk era. The best of his '70s work always makes me feel good
He was one of Frank Zappa's favourate guitarists and played with Zappa live and in the studio.
He also had some of the best album covers ever, I esp dig 'A Real Mother For Ya'. On the cover he's sitting in a wooden cart with his 'gi'tar and JGW on the licence plate, being pushed along by his real mother
Come here, gi'tar! | |

Smooth groove from Mr Watson. That is all. OH! He did a rap song too called Telephone Bill. Hilarious AND funky. [Edited 7/4/12 21:00pm] Katie Kinisky: "So What Are The Latest Dances, Nell?"
