The Damned - Life Goes On

Interesting story about this song.

The song Come As You Are, by Nirvana, is a direct rip off of the song Eighties, by killing Joke and that song(eighties), is quite possibly a rip off of this song.

Killing Joke were going to sue Nirvana but they decided against it and that's why dave grohl played drums for free on killing Joke's 2003 album. I wonder if the damned ever thought about suing killing Joke ?

Rest in Peace Bettie Boo. See u soon.

Hmm interesting back story. But why would someone sue someone over using something they also copped from? Don't make sense. lol That's like 2Pac's estate suing Christina Milian or whoever for stealing Pac's "I Ain't Mad At Cha" when the original came from DeBarge. lol

Nice song though.

That's the same thing i was thinking. The drummer for Killing Joke(big Paul) was asked if he or the other band members had ever heard Life Goes On and he said they hadn't, so who knows. One things for sure and that is Nirvana admitted to copying the guitar parts of Eighties for the song Come As You Are.

A lot of the British punk, post punk and rock bands from the mid to late 70's had a somewhat similar sound(especially guitar)and probably copied from each other. Bands like Killing Joke, Siouxie And the Banshees, The Damned, The Fall, The Jam, The Clash, Joy Division, PIL, The Pretenders, Wire, Gang of Four, early Adam and the Ants, The Stranglers, etc, mingled in the same crowds and toured together. Even American bands like Television had things in common with the bands i mentioned. They all mixed elements of punk, reggae, and even soul and funk to come up with a unique sound. I think the American band Television were one of the first to kinda mix up the punk sound though.

It amazes me how so many talented bands came out of England. Not just the bands i mentioned but bands like Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Cream, Yes, King Crimson, Roxy Music, Ect.

That's frigging crazy.
