if Lauryn was smart, she would try to get that new album out there as soon as possible. She could probably get an advance from the record company and use that money to help pay down her IRS debt.

She plead guilty so the IRS will probably set up a payment plan if they are not demanding ALL of the money up-front...As long as Lauryn pleads to the judge that she's doing shows or whatever to raise the money the Attorneys for the IRS will probably work with her...I said PROBABLY...It is a known fact that the IRS is tougher on Black Celebs...No mercy...

Lauryn is in that Mix of Great female Artists that probably won't have a huge Legacy of music...She's had 2 very successful Careers and made enough money to lay low and start a family...

When she's done with this IRS thing I'd like for her to talk with Producers @ HBO and create a Drama/Comedy..I want her to go back to her acting roots and do some side-singing-gigs when she feels like it......I just don't know if she HATES having a routine or if it is impossible for her to be disciplined....

They'll get a payment plan MY guess is that someone told her "look, you are going to jail if you dont show any form of remorse, or at least sanity" Lauryn said she is planning a explanation during sentencing, my advice, shut up and act sane, if she goes in there talking social injustice and sexism and industry troubles, shes not winning anyone over. Also this issue doesnt way to well on people who pay taxes and have nothing, she has the means to pay and that to me is always the issue in these cases. THE IRS is tough more on people who dont have than do, Lauryn isnt going to jail, because that is a bigger headache and cost, if they set her up with payments and she obides she is set, now joe schmo on the street doesnt get that kind of treatment, trust me i submitted something wrong one year and got a refund from NY state and 2 years later they noticed it was added wrong and they not only threatened jail, they charged me interest for 3 years and fines, on a $12 mistake it turned to $554 so i dont wanna hear that lauryn is getting tough.

Lauryn Hill Pleads Guilty to Tax Charges; Could Get 3 Years in Prison

Lauryn Hill arrives at federal court Friday, June, 29, 2012, in Newark, N.J.

*Dressed in a conservative dark jacket, white button-up shirt and a long rose skirt , singer Lauryn Hill pleaded guilty Friday to not paying federal taxes on more than $1.5 million earned over three years. She faces a maximum one-year sentence on each of the three counts, reports the Associated Press.

Appearing in U.S. District Court in Newark, NJ, Hill admitted she didn’t pay taxes on about $818,000 earned in 2005, $222,000 in 2006 and $761,000 in 2007. The money was earned by four corporations she owned. During the hearing, attorney Nathan Hochman indicated that Hill planned to pay back the taxes she owes.

After the charges were brought three weeks ago, Hill posted a long statement on her Tumblr page explaining that she hasn’t paid taxes since she withdrew from society to guarantee the safety and well-being of herself and her family. She also decried pop culture’s “climate of hostility, false entitlement, manipulation, racial prejudice, sexism and ageism.”

Hill declined to comment after Friday’s hearing, but hinted that she might make remarks at her sentencing. When U.S. Magistrate Michael Shipp asked her if anyone had directly or indirectly influenced her decision to plead guilty, she replied, “Indirectly, I’ve been advised my ability to speak out directly is for another time, at sentencing.”

She should also plead guilty to I-look-toe-up-charges as well.

I never liked her; I always thought she was pretentious, affected,

and sanctimonious. I don't wish evil on her - she's somebody's

mother - but.....

I've lost hope that she will ever come up with a new album. She's been on the crazy bus for too long and now she's the driver. She's on tumblr talking about all the oppression, sexism, racism, ageism, ableism, and other isms in the industry, which I can understand she must be facing but after reading all of her eloquently written words I was left wondering what any of that had to do with her paying her taxes. You live in this country you have to follow major laws if you don't they're coming for you if they can find you. Hell even Jesus paid his damn taxes to Caesar, didn't she read that in the Bible she is always preaching to us from in her music? Someone needs to revoke her crazy bus driver's license. Relax Ms. Hill, I have love for you, but I'm not going to support the jackassery. [Edited 6/29/12 13:55pm]

I agree with you and it sucks for her, but that's what happens. I kinda feel that she's one of those people who like to preach things, but doesn't want to make the change themselves. I have mad respect for her as an artist, but her life isnt exactly a good example. She fucked up Wyclefs marriage, she wanted Marley's last name without the guy actually loving her and she hasnt released anything in over 10 years (not that it matters but still...) I really hope she gets some type of help because she needs it!

What a waste of talent. On the up side, maybe she’ll avoid jail and have to release an album and start showing up on time at concerts to pay the bill!

She could do another Unplugged, this time the one everyone expected, featuring the band she tours with playing mostly her classic album and famous Fugees parts.
