Ever time I here "If I Was Your Boyfriend" by JB I think instantly of "If I Was Your Girlfriend" by Prince. biggrin What you all think??? Besides seem like he has mention Prince before in a interview as a influence?

I'm going to go way out on a limb and say, probably.

I'm also going to express a very unpopular opinion, but I dig Justin.

I mean, I'm not a fan of the music, but i'm not even a fan of Madonna's music---Pop is a genre that I barely like.

HOWEVER, I've seen him on Ellen Degenerous several times, and I've come to realize that he's a very nice, nice guy. He's very polite, he works tirelessly to support the fans who support him. He's constantly visiting hospitals and impoverished places---constantly visiting fans who write letters to him. He also most of the times insists that there is no press coverage or cameras around (not always possible).

He's just really a gracious, greatful celebrity who tries to show his fans that he appreciates them. How many of us can say that about our favorite musicians?

Nah....That's reaching a bit. Everything is not associated with Prince. Just because the lyrics say "if I was your boyfriend/girlfriend" doesn't mean it was borrowed from Prince. Plus the song is just called "Boyfriend" anyway.

nod No one can doubt that JB doesn't appreciate his fans. He goes over and beyond to show is appreciation for them.

The music is another story, but his practice of consideration is awardable.

People are way too hard on him as I mentioned in another thread...I don't think his career will really last due to the product and the system he is in, but I think he should enjoy it as it is. Maybe he will turn the tables..But I ain't hating on anyone, and if I would 'Hate' it would not be on Justin Bieber.

On the other hand; he possibly took that from Prince. The sound very alike, and the title of course brings the assumption that possibly he did.

He does respect Prince; so maybe he listened and was inspired? Who knows..lol

when i hear the song i think of if i was your girlfriend, but it may just be because im such a huge fan of Prince.

as far as Justin goes, i dont HATE him, however i think he is overhyped and wish him and his team would stop trying to market him as "the next michael jackson" his music is very generic..

his team says "the album believe will bring everyone back to the drawing boards"

yet it sounds like everything else on top 40 radio.. nothing new.

and really, the only thing i have against him is that he is constantly taking from Mike, as most "artist" now days do. there is a difference in being an artist and an impersonator.
