Hope y'all don't mind me sharing some great hiphop, I'm also thinking if hiphop will ever go back to its original roots and street poetry ? Any thoughts ?

Positive or conscious or backpack hip hop bores me, I'm sorry to

say.

I prefer thuggery, foolishness, materialistic, goon, ratchet,

gully, misogynistic hip hop. Although, Common's Electric

Circus is pretty dope.

I like early Sugarhill Gang era rap the best. They could make 10+ minute songs that were fun and groovy. I didn't listen to that much hip hop made after 1986 or so. Early MC's could also make songs without cursing or using the N word.

Yes very true. I'm glad Immortal Technique is still an indie artist, even though I doubt he'd ever be signed with his highly political messages lol. I'd say the only rapper that can do pretty much what he wants is NAS. And yes I love that song, I hope Lupe can come back with some good material.

Immortal Technique is beyond amazinG! his lyrics are just so deep & a lot of the imtes dark and intense. He is one artist sometimes i have to be in a certain mood to hear, cause he tells brutal stories that just make you go damn and haunt you.

He is incredibly underrated

Yeah I know, I totally agree. SO UNDERRATED! It's the same for me, I still havent seen perform tho. My brother talked to him and he's a really cool guy.

It's a great song and I'm so happy Nas is doing his thing. I love that he's still so true to himself after all these years and he just keeps doing great albums. Thankfully we can listen to good music because we know it, but for those who don't I feel sad sometimes because hiphop/rap used to be so damn good. You can find some good hiphop underground, but def not mainstream. I guess J Cole, , Kendrick Lamar, MF Doom(not that famous bus still), Lupe Fiasco are the ones still keeping it real on the mainstream scene.

I dont understand how people how so strong opinions about hiphop when they havent heard the good stuff, but I think it all goes down to fear in a way. Hiphop/rap is still considered hostile and dangerous in a way, it's not "real" music because it's not what people want "real" music to be like. People are not used to see strong black american / latin american men (and some women) talking about their experiences and life stories, but rather used to see this type of nice polished version of it (not saying other types of music can't be this way, but hiphop has always been raw street poetry) and I think that's the core of the hatred the genre gets. It's interesting because while House/electro doesn't get nearly as much hate and it's worse because that type of music only has 2 loops and some drum patterns and that's it (I'm generlizing of course). Yep, I'm glad I grew up listening to good hiphop. Yes the Neo soul/ live R&B is still very much alive undergroundm, I'm so happy for that.

I retired from Hip Hop this year. I'm looking foward to Kendrick Lamar album though.

To each his own I just had to take a break from it in general. I still keep up with the rappers I liked previously though.
