I was just listening to Tonex's anti-gay (I know right?) song O2 (Oxygen), and I started to wonder if it was immoral or wrong to listen to songs that promote discrimination of some type and/or prejudice, even if you don't believe it yourself. (It goes against everything I believe in, I just really enjoy Tonex).

Some songs go too far (like Ice Cube's Black Korea, something I deleted off my Ipod when I got the album), but if it's mild I usually turn my head.

What do y'all think? Does this make anyone else feel uncomfortable?

There is a few songs i am always eh on when i listen. This band i like W.A.S.P has some songs that talk about how ''hollywood'' is run by fags and they do nothing but try to sell your soul. And another song is about how ''fags are taking over America'' I have always liked W.A.S.P for there political songs but the singer has been very open about his views on homosexuality.

Another would just many rap songs that belittle women... some are for jokes. But some songs realy do try to belittle women and it gives some people this idea that women are meant to just be ''the latest hoe''

Another band i like Xiu Xiu has strong political stance on the war. I don't fully agree on the war, and some of our troops are greta people & some have done fucked up shit. But the lyrics are this

Eh, idk Black Korea to me is not as bad as some other stuff i have heard. At the time yeah.. but nowaday's to me anywho it's not terrible.

It's not awfully bad, but it makes me uncomfortable to listen to.

While I understood his anger (because I think this was related to the Latasha Harlins (sp?) case), I definitely think it was offensive.

Do you think Cube felt bad about some of the stuff he said? i mean he seemed incredibly un-apologetic in his early years. Some people think he was racists against white people but that was far from the truth.

Either way looking at him now it is hard to imagine he was ever that angry young man that made Amerikkas most Wanted all the way to Lethal Injection.

Xiu Xiu is an intense band. They're hard to listen to at times.

Their song "Black Keyboard" -- you don't hear musicians singing about that topic in such an honest way.
