UK : Cover Version Hell What is happening to the UK??
I know things have been pretty bad for a long time but is it me or are things getting decidedly worse? Having yet another cover version of Unchained Melody hit the top of the charts last year was a low point but now there's a full scale onslaught of covers that are either just pointless or that actually rip the heart out of the original. Step up please... Soda Club - Heaven is a place on earth - just what is the point? DJ Sammy - Boys of Summer - an absolute classic track of its kind made into run of the mill elevator music Liberty X - Aint Nobody - yes one of Chaka's highpoints 100% murdered by the Flopstars. Gareth Gates - Spirit in the Sky - alright, so it's for Comic Relief but does that really make this ok??

Hey, if you don't like the UK music, why don't you come over to good old Germany? You might like it here!

I've got no problem with cover versions - heck they've been around for decades now and SOME are better than the original, or at least add a fresh twist to an old song.
However when a cover version is done so lamely just to fill up an album it really gets me down. I guess the answer is - DON'T BUY THE DAMN THINGS! And if your kids ask for it - BUY THEM THE ORIGINAL VERSION!
