Bernard Ighner - singer/instrumentalist/composer (including "Everything Must Change")
Just browsed the orchives and noticed that Bernard's "Everything Must Change" is mentioned and discussed before. Besides Bernard debuting with singing the song on Quincy Jones' "Body Heat" album, this classic has been recorded by many others, such as George Benson on his "In Flight" album.
First time i noticed Bernard's work was from his solo album "Little Dreamer" (1979). The album's recording sessions took place in Tokyo and California and was exclusively released in Japan by Alfa Records, followed by a tour in Japan with his sister Sandy Ighner on vocals and his brother Keith Ighner on bass. Keith also performed bass on Bernard's "Little Dreamer" album besides a lineup of Japanese studio musicians such as guitarist Kazumi Watanabe.
Thanks to the digital technology a lot of artists eventually have appeared with their own website online. When i started browsing on internet around 2002, there was some info available but finally Bernard has launched his official website which i just discovered yesterday. A few weeks before that i browsed for his name on youtube and discovered a series of performances (2 with Bernard) from a live-recording with Sarah Vaughan, which left a deep impression on me.
Finally, a live version of "Everything Must Change" by the late David Peaston. I remember seeing the front cover of his first solo album from (i guess) 1989, although i never checked it and bought it. Sometime ago i ran into this performance of him on a talent show where the audience is the judge, and presented by Bill Cosby. Watch Bill's reaction after David's belting blows lol

Great thread, and much needed info.
I didn't even know that he had a solo album. I even wished he did, being so enamored with the only thing I ever heard from him(thanks to the Body Heat LP). The only other semi-major thing I was familiar with was his cameo in 207 where he sing a brief segment of his standard.
BTW, Madame Simone did a heartfelt rendition as well,,, [Edited 6/19/12 8:32am] | |

I think the only time I remember seeing him was on 227 also.

Thank you Harlepolis and that's a wonderful rendition by Nina. I also like how the strings sound. All 'n all a great delivery! And interesting info about his appearance on 207 (and on 227, cheers daPrettyman!). I wasn't aware of that. Valuable trivia. It seems more singers appeared there because i recently read that the late Ronald Richardson, singer and co-staff writer for Gamble & Huff, also appeared on 227. Hope you'll find Bernard's album someday.
You're welcome man! It was overwhelmed yesterday, seeing all those expanded pictures of those recording sessions of Bernard's album. I love it when artists have historized their past activities so well. Bernard, Sandy and Keith Ighner also performed on this track which Bernard wrote:
Thanks again everyone for your thoughts
