Britney Spears' Blackout Album Added To Rock and Roll Hall of Fame After several fan-driven purchase weeks for Blackout, one of the best Britney Spears albums to date (IMHO) has finally topped one million in sales! It's true. I know people who know things, and I got official confirmation. It's Britney, bitch. And it's about time.
That's not all! According to MTV.com, Blackout has been added to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's music library — it is Britney's only album to have been added to the Hall of Fame archives. In 2010, Rolling Stone said the album may be "the most influential pop album of the past five years."
Blackout has spawned hits such as "Gimme More," "Piece of Me," "Break the Ice" and one of my all-time faves — "Get Naked (I Got A Plan)." The album has also taken home three MTV Video Music Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award and was dubbed "the Album of the Decade" by the 2009 Rolling Stone Magazine Awards.
See? Even when she's not making music at the moment, our Queen is completely killing it. Congrats, B! xx http://www.britney.com/us...-hall-fame [Edited 6/19/12 1:45am]

I wholeheartedly agree with this. "Gimme More", "Piece Of Me" and "Break The Ice" were gamechangers.
Other producers and artists were forced to reevaluate their sound after this dropped.
Easily her best album. |

A lot of haters. If you haven't listened to it shut your trap.

People seem to forget that pop music is an artform, and this is a hell of a pop album. 2012: The Queen Returns

They would put that OVER Donna Summer OR a Donna Summer song?????
I dont think so...this has nothing to do with hating or the quality of that album. There are alot of albums that should be placed above that one...

I have no problem with the album, Britney's best, but there are too many albums that are so much better that never even get mentioned

No better than the music you all complain about on mainstream radio right now [Edited 6/19/12 9:43am]

Sad that's ture. Nevertheless...on the subject alone Blackout is a good album. Not classic or anything in my opinion..but good. I know "Hot As Ice" makes we wanna sweat on the dancefloor! I think Nelly Furtado's Loose was better than this. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

This has nothing to do with Donna Summer. And being put in the hall of fame won't make make Donna any more or less of a legend. 2012: The Queen Returns

She never said it was.
It's just that Donna Summer is a superiror artist, and has yet to be recognised.
You could replace Summer with alot of artists who's music has yet to be recognised, as most are superior to Britney and her music [Edited 6/19/12 11:06am]

But why dwell on that? Isn't it enough to know that they're great artists. It just seems to me that the internet is full of people who would complain rather than just say "good for her". 2012: The Queen Returns

I have a hard time comparing Blackout and In The Zone because I consider both to be the peak of her artistry. she's simply a producer's pet these days.

Good album "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

RHOF loses all credibility... it makes no sense an artist such as Donna Summer who has been in the industry LONGER than Spears and has more classic material worthy to be recognized, isnt. Its not about dwelling on it but Brittany Spears album really doesnt mean anything or has had any impact on music. Its funny the artists you dont care about you say this bullshit excuse knowing damn well... this is fucked up shit with legendary music being in the RHOF and this bullshit is in it..

Good for Britney. | |

I always find statements like this perplexing. It was added by top industry associates with credibility so how exactly do they lose credibility?
"We purchased that CD a few months ago as part of a project involving the acquisition of the most critically acclaimed albums of the past couple of decades." Those are the exact words out of Andy Leach's mouth, the director of Library and Archives at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
Blackout was universally praised when it came out so this is the least bit surprising to me and anyone else with knowledge of that era. Even the critics that hated Britney and wanted to hate the album couldn't. They were waiting for a failure and instead was served with the best material of career.

Rock Hall of Fame lost credibility YEARS ago hun and when they continue to do dumb crap like this it just continues to worsen.
I just pointed out that its disgraceful that alot of other albums songs have not gotten in but they will put this shit in. Top industry associates doesnt mean anything. They do this shit for ratings and because its a popularity contest. I can name a TON of ALBUMS more deserving than this Brittany Spears album. I HIGHLY doubt this album will be playing 50 years from now. They will allow anything in RHOF its a complete joke.
